ITEM COMPANY I-3-5 - WHEREABOUTS OF LS HART

Comments: Seeking information on USMC Pfc L. S. Hart from Washington state. Served with my father Pfc Robert Lehman. Hart was severely wounded after relieving my father at a forward position. A USN Corpsman reported that Hart's wound was fatal; he was included in a memorial service held in the field. But Hart is not listed as KIA in any place I have looked, and the casualty card, which I received a decade ago, indicates that Hart had been evacuated to the USN hospital ship Hope for transport to US.

Comments: Just released, "They Called Her Reckless -- A True Story of War,
Love And One Extraordinary Horse," is the whole story of the
little Korean pony who became the warhorse of the 5th Regiment
during the Korean War. Awarded two Purple Hearts, promoted to
sergeant (and later staff sergeant), Reckless hauled ammo, saved
lives, raised spirits, and was loved and respected by all who
knew her. The memories and stories of dozens of Marines who knew
her in Korea and thereafter made this book possible. Thank you
all. Book includes 14 pages of photos, many never before
published. Available at various Marine Corps sites and on Amazon.com.

We had a babysitter named "Ruthie Schwartz" who had C.P. We used to go play where Lefrek City was being built. Once you lost your shoes in a swampy area there. You used to wear your father's jeep cap all the time. I remember that you had alot of sisters. I have been thinking about you and your family all of these years and trying to get in contact with you. I am profoundly affected by the loss of your father in Korea and want you all to know that he is not forgotten. Please contact me. Do you happen to know what happened to Ruthie? THOSE WHO WERE THERE

Comments: I am a Military History student at UNT and a former Marine. I am doing research on the Marines in the Korean War.
I need to interview some Marine veterans of Korea who now live in Tarrant County, TX, or who lived there when they joined the Corps. Any phase of Korea is fine, 1950-1953.
It is vital that the memories of those who were there are not left out of the historical record and too many people today forget or never knew what Korea was like.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Keywords: I am looking for James Robert Baker who served with me on the MPR north of Seoul from April 1952 until I left the unit in October 1952. Baker was from Idaho or Nevada, I can't remember which. We went on all-night patrols in front of the lines and shared a hole in the ground for several months. We were also together at Camp DelMar, CA after we were rotated back to the states. He was famous for his renditions of Al Jolson songs.

Comments: Gentlemen,
My name is Anthony Storch. I am currently in post-baccalaureate study at the University of North Florida prior to entering the Masters in History degree program. I intend to concentrate in US Military History and the Veterans’ Memorial Oral History Project is an integral part of my academic program.

I am looking for ANY vets frm the Korean War who live in Florida or S. Georgia who would be interested in telling their stories.

I can send/fax/e-mail an Overview, Script, and Release. AS time passes, veterans depart. I want their stories to be recorded so future generations can learn of their sacrifices. Any assistance you can render will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Comments: I'm trying to find any information about my great uncle, Capt. Vincent J. Marzello. I recently found information on a website from the US Naval Aviation showing that my uncle's plane was shot down on March 5, 1952. I guess I was just interested to see if anyone "out there" knew him. Thank you for any information you might have. Also, thank you all for everything that you have done and given for our country!
