AMORE CASE, 1ST MARINE TANK BN?

ROBERT CASE wrote on February 20, 2011

City and State: WASHINGTON DC

Unit:

Service or Relationship: FAMILY MEMBER

Comments: I am writing not knowing whether anyone here will be able to help me,
however, when one starts a search like this it's best to cast a broad net.

My uncle, Amore Case was with the 1st Marines in Korea and fought at
Chosin - he also fought in Vietnam. Uncle Amore passed away last
year and unfortunately, our circumstance made it impossible for me to
learn anything about the man.

It's past time that I gave it a try and so, I'd love to get in touch with a
vet who knew/served with my uncle or someone who knows how to
find info about him.

What information I have is that Amore Case was in tanks in
Korea....and was a Master Sergeant, but that's most likely the rank he
achieved at the end of his military career. I cannot say if this info is
correct and am assuming it's not reliable....but it's all I have for now.

Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated.

I will gladly share any information I can find as we cannot forget the
service these men gave to our country.

R.G.C.

I hate to impose, but sure would like to hear anything at all from anyone who was there then or might remember my Dad. He probably went by Bob, but his name was Robert Ziebert. He also said something about driving a jeep, maybe for officers? He was pvt. I think he was promoted and then demoted back to pvt, but honestly know little or nothing. Comments: I have come across a triangular shapes piece of cloth that I believe belonged to my brother in law (deceased) Milton Lurch. He was in food services. In korea. The cloth has a square with a circle in yellow and a center in solid blue. There are a number of inscriptions on the cloth . One says Camp Fuji 1954 June. There are a number of inscriptions in korean/japanese. There is a patch replica w/a 3 pointed star.in segment of one area is w in the other is a 2 and in the third is a 4. Under the patch drawing is "4th Mar. F.M.F. There is also "cigarette boy" inscription. There are several references to "px fuji store. The interest of this find would be to the surviving children of Milton Lurch and the signatures
of the item I have referred to.

Comments: I was selected to lead a small group of Marines who traveled around Korea for about a month during 1952 performing as a musical group. Part of the group were three marines who called themselves the "Rice Paddy Ramblers". I would like to touch base with any of the members of that group to remember the good times we had for that month before going back to the front lines.

SAMUEL M BECKWITH, TANK MECHANIC

Comments: I'm looking for information about my father, Samuel Monroe Beckwith. He served two enlistments with the 1st Tank Battalion; the first as a tank crewman from October 30, 1945, to October 29, 1948, ending up with the rank of "SSgt" (staff sergeant??). The second tour as a Tank Mechanic from October 30, 1948 to October (no date given) 1951. His last rank is shown as "TSgt". MY father passed away in 1987 and did not like to talk about his experiences. A request for information provided several pages about his first enlistment but only a single summary sheet about his second tour. Any information received would be greatly appreciated by me and my brother.
