Comments: My Dad was injured severely in Korea, but lived for many years afterwards. I am looking for information about when he was injured Oct 1951. I'm also trying to figure out from his letters when he went to Ft Bragg, Quantico, CamLej, and Barstow, I think in that order. If anyone knew him, I'd love to hear some stories. I have a book with many photos, but there are no names here. I think my Dad bought a camera when he arrived in Korea and was some sort of unofficial unit photographer. He loved the Corps so much I followed in his footsteps to see what all the hoopla was about. Semper Fi -- GySgt Fitzsimmons usmc ret.

Roy was in H&S Company, 1st Regiment, 1st Division; Roy had volunteered to drive a truck during a resupply mission, according to the citation for the Silver Star he received - posthumously. Roy turned 21 on January 10, 1951; prior to his recall to the Marine Corp in August 1950, he had mustered out of the Marines in Dec 1949 or Jan of 1950 (I believe), he had been stationed at Camp Lejeune. Leland may have been his first name, the date is correct. You didn't
say if he was listed as kia or mia, maybe no one knows for sure. I
remember him in 1949 at Camp Lejune, NC he would sing on long field
marches. He was a easy going and good natured Marine.
