Comments: My brother, PFC Walter M Norris,JR put in 1st Motor Transport - truck driver. Mentions 'Lt. McMahon'in letter, as person who trained him with truck. Hauled troops up to 2nd Bat. I am trying to find info about his time at the Chosin. He was put in George Co. around Christmas. Have found many of them and they are great people. Walter was KIA, April 24, 1951 on Hill 902 while serving with them. Also would like to know is anyone knew interpretor named Kim Chang Choe or Shoa? Thanks much, patriciap

Looking for anyone who knew Pfc. Roy E. Koenig
Jeffrey Lee wrote on 2001-02-21 19:49:11.0
Comments: I'm looking for anyone who may have known Pfc. Roy E. Koenig. He was my Mother's first cousin and was KIA April 24, 1951. Roy was in H&S Company, 1st Regiment, 1st Division; Roy had volunteered to drive a truck during a resupply mission, according to the citation for the Silver Star he received - posthumously. Roy turned 21 on January 10, 1951; prior to his recall to the Marine Corp in August 1950, he had mustered out of the Marines in Dec 1949 or Jan of 1950 (I believe), he had been stationed at Camp Lejeune. We would just like to hear from anyone who may have known or served with Roy.
Comments: Looking for anyone who knew my father, Henry Nash "Hank" Larom. He claimed to be a recon marine but service record shows H&S Co, 1stMar, 1stMarDiv, so he must have been in a scout/sniper platoon. He said he lead 13 missions and never lost a man. I assume these were 8 man patrols?
You would remember him -- not big (5'10" 145 lbs.) but a good boxer and a good shot, handsome, drinker and a ladies' man, extraordinarily intelligent and literate (he was later a college English prof!). He did plebe year at the Naval Academy before enlisting.

(its been a long time) He was in the radio section of H&S company
1st Marine Reg., 1st Marine Division. I was told he got up on the
last tanks coming out and the tanks didn't make it. I am wondering
if he is listed as KIA or MIA?
There were not many marines who had a last name starting with God.
Any info you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Leland may have been his first name, the date is correct. You didn't
say if he was listed as kia or mia, maybe no one knows for sure. I
remember him in 1949 at Camp Lejune, NC he would sing on long field
marches. He was a easy going and good natured Marine.
