Comments: I am a Marine who is trying to help a daughter of Cpl. Clinton Dewainne Conn find anyone who knew or served with him, His home of record was Topeka, Kansas although he is buried in Beloit, Kansas (Elmwood Cemetary). I do not know what his MOS was but believe it to be 0300. I do not know where in I co. he served. He re-enlisted 07-31-50 so I believe his original date of enlistment was 07-31-46 or some date close to it. He did his boot camp at San Diego. His date of birth was 05-07-20. The memorial info lists a key of 5791 but I do not know what that means. His daughter is anxious for friends, aquaintences, pictures, any info
Thanks and Semper Fi Sgt, Tom Keith

Comments: I am looking for anyone who served in unit, battalion and company who may have known my great uncle, Jack Donald Ritz. He trained in Parris Island, served in combat at Chosin Reservoir, suffred frostbite there, was treated, sent back to battle and later killed in action during an ambush May 29, 1951. My information is sketchy, and I know the battalions are large, but if this name sounds familiar, I have photos of Parris Island to share. Thanks for any and all information.

Comments: Looking for any infomation on Item company operations during the Chosin Reservoir campaign. My uncle Melvin Thompson was a PFC in Item Company at that time, and his neice (my daughter) is doing a school project on him. What would be great if anyone knows of the offical Marine history, where I can purchase it, etc. All the current books give a great description of the campaign, but all are sorely lacking in the area of maps and chronological timeline. Email at this address or my work of rcunningham@providence.org. Many thanks in advance.
For those interested, Mel is still alive and living in Oceanside California, after 26 years on active duty.

I knew Macquarrie, and liked him. He was a friendly guy, quiet, helpful to those around him. I remember the time he tried to find a pair of shoes to fit one of the guys in his squad who had a wrong size.He would sing a snatch of a song,"I hear that silver trumpet blow.." He was hit by fragments from a mortar round that burst on the edge of his foxhole. I remember seeing him on the stretcher as the bearers carried him to the aid station. And

Understand his position was over-run by enemy troops before his body was recovered, because my family received very little of Marvin's personal effects. One of the few items received was a blood-stained pocket knife.
Would like to hear from anyone about Marvin. Also would like to know more about the Ponbudong area and any info or circumstances surrounding or pertaining to his death.

Comments: Remember 1stlt Joe Fisher and his mustache. Remeber the Jeep driver I rode shotgun for. He had reins tied to the bottom of the steering wheel and tried to use them to steer. Believe he was from Texas. Know he was crazy. Damn near got me killed. He later was decorated for running down the road to get ammo. Recall going through the personal effect of Exec when he was killed. Remember Lt, Needham was grad of rival high school in Baltimore.

Comments: My dad, Charles (Challie, Charlie) J. Lerch, was a Marine in the Korean Conflict, 1st Reg. 3rd Bat. 1st Div. How Company. He lives in Rockland County, New York, and enlisted 11/10/50 out of West Nyack, New York. Went to Parris Island (boot camp) then on to Camp Pendleton for advanced training. Then on the Pussan, Korea by way of the U.S.S. Medavy. He was WIA (shrapnel in his thigh); they patched him up and sent him back out until '53. Came home on a Merchant Marine destroyer ship General Black. My dad, would love to hear from anyone he was in Korea with. He could be reached through my e-mail address: SharleighL@AOL.com. May God Bless you all!

Comments: Does this ring a bell for anyone? This is my husband and I would like to know some of the experiences he may have gone thru in The Korean War. I met him after he was discharged, and married him in 1956. His family always said he was different after he came home. He won't say any thing about the Marines except they were a fighting unit, and " I don't want to talk about it" He has always been a moody person and quick tempered, I just wonder if something happened ? Thanks Sara Sellers
