Comments: My father passed away on 25 July 1995 in Princeton, North Carolina. I am just trying to find any surviving marines that served with him. After his death we learned that he was one of the most decorated veterans in our county (Johnston County) from the Korean War conflict and nobody knew it.

Comments: I am particularly looking for people who were with E/2/1 on the night of September 5, 1952. One Medal of Honor and two Navy Crosses that night. Easy Company was back in the rear in reserve, but got loaned to the 3rd Battalion for that night. They were sent to Bunker Hill and the Chinese hit them with 8 or 10 waves. I should have been there but had been sent back to NCO school. I want to write up what happened and see to it that the Historical Branch gets it in the record. Please contact me if you were there that night. Sgt. John Schneider

Comments: My uncle, Andrew Vincent Panella, was KIA in Korea on November 12, 1950. He was a Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton. My Korean War history is a little shaky, but I think that he was in the landing at Inchon and fought in the battle over Seoul very early in the war. As you can see, he died only a few months after the war began. My father has told me a little about my uncle, but I wanted to see if there were any memorials to Korean War casualties. Thanks for this web site!

By the grace of GOD and Sgt. Wade's training and expertise, I survived combat in Vietnam when situations seemed grim. Just wanted to thank him and see how he was doing. We served together at Lejeune in 1965. I remember that his wife had a baby at about that time and a group of us in his platoon helped him celebrate the event. Comments: My Grandpa, Alvin Smith, joined the Mariens around 1952 and was sent to Korea, and after he dided in 2001, I came across photos which he had from before, during and after the war of him and some of his buddies. and I was hopping someone would know him or anyone in who might have known him. He always wanted to find his buddies but was taken before he had the chance to do so. So if anyone knows anything about him it would be great for some help. thanks Wendy

I have his discharge papers and nothing else. Any information or buddies may contact me via email or phone. Thanks so much.

Comments: Have been desperately trying to find out any information about my father Jack McGuire who was a Navy corpsman in Korea. Just received a lead from Gunny Sgt. Lacy Bethea that my father might have been attached to this Marine Division. I have a newspaper article/photo of him with a Sgt. Leon Reese whom Sgt. Bethea remembered being in "E" company, 2nd battalion, 1st Marine Division. If any of these names sound familiar please contact me. Thank You in advance Mary McGuire
