Comments: I am looking for any information about my father, Sgt. Lawrence Hallie Hubbell. D.O.B. 01/01/32. I believe he went by the name of "Hallie" while he was in the Marines. He was in the Marine Corps and served in Korea sometime between 1951 and 1953. He attended Basic Training in San Diego in 1951 with the 204th Platoon. He was from Parkdale, Oregon. I am interested in talking with anyone who knew him or served with him in Korea. He died in 1964. I am considering a trip to Korea during the summer of 2000 and would like to go to places where he served. I would appreciate any help that you could give me in my search.
A photo from his Basic Training in San Diego has the following names on it: Sgt. N.F. Wickline, Sgt. M.J. Hodge, Corp. C.R. Siel and Corp. W.D. Morris.

It has been a long, long time but I would enjoy hearing from my Marine
"boots" all of whom survived "the asylum on the Island". 88 started out
and 67 graduated; in addition, we all went to CamPen for close combat
training w/ T & R Command, then onto Battalion FMF schools at Delmar.
From there most of PLtn #288 embarked for replacements to the 1st Marine
Division FMF in Korea. It took the USNS Gen. Miegs 21 days to get us to
Pusan, Korea.
Remember that dirty bucket the Miegs?? 12th replacement draft was put
on to "cattle trucks" thru that foul, smelly port city. Enroute to tent
city saw filthy Koreans urinating & defecating in front of their
cardboard hovels. Days later we were assigned to our various MOS and I
went to "A" Co. 1st Tank Bn with 4 others from #288.
With our hands full in that combat tour lost track of #288 boots. If
any of you are on the web, please feel free to say hello again.
