Comments: Have misplaced this website for long time and had forgotten that I had asked about lost buddies that were in my boot plt # 154 USMC SD Apri 1951 then ordered to Korea to 11 Reg.105 How. We were strafed by ( one bomb charly ) Korean or Chinese , gun 3 had one person with head wound. and we had one KIA incoming mortar round during my year. On this website a woman asks about a relative that was KIA in our btry , will now get back to her now that I have her e mail address. Have made some contacts but I sure would like to have a reunion with boot plt and 11 Reg.
I would like this inserted and prior one deleted if possible .

Comments: Hello, My name is Ira Martin. I've recently began the task of documenting my Grandfather, Donald Martin "Marty"s involvement in Korea. He arrived in Korea April 1951' He was promoted to sergeant upon arrival and commanded the 1st division 11th regiment 1st Battalion Baker Battery (Gun #4?) and served till the truce talks stalemate July 1952'. Its recently come to my attention He may have fired in support of E-2-5 and or G-3-5. He recieved 6 medals altogether not/inc the new unissued Rok medal. He has yet to receive it. He is interested in any serious contacts from baker battery and any forward observers he might have encountered. He's sad the names are gone from memory; Even then, most were nicknames never to be used again off the Peninsula. I've begun documenting his divisions movements during his service with what limited resources I can get. Any Information or Resources would be greatly appreciated and reciprocal if wanted. I've got a couple maps off the web and some random references to the Marines 11th Artillery in some actual diary like info and military docs. My Grandfather has some amazing stories and even more I'd like Help to unlock. My recent interest has already begun to get things going. If interested or know of my Grandfather please contact me imartin@nycap.rr.com for additional contact info. Any Information will be extremely appreciated. I look forward to a serious response. Sincerely, Ira L Martin

Comments: First of all, a very heart-felt thank you to all who have served and are serving our Country. My father, Gerald Pegouskie, served from 1952-1955 with part of '52-'53 in Korea. He passed away 19 years ago without telling us much about that time, though we did meet a few of his Marine buddies in the years prior. I am looking fo others who served with him, with limited info to work from. He received awards for service during a Marine Artillery op from March 27-29, 1953 while a wireman with an artillery forward observation team far forward of the main line. There is no mention in his very worn papers of where this line or battle was though. In giving, I have several photos of him and some of the men he served with identified only as Chich, Hinton, O'Leary, Sanborn, Rauch and Raush, and a few of their area in Korea. I would be happy to e-mail or snail-mail copies to families of those men. Please contact me at DeboaS@aol.com.

Mel Hahn Part 2 |

Brad Hahn wrote on 2001-05-01 23:49:36.0
Comments: I have delayed posting this for long enough. My dad, Mel Hahn, died of a heart attack on Dec. 26th, 2000, just one day after I made his original post. I was very happy I got to see him on Christmas and have him tell me about his experience in Korea. He told me that day about his regiment and company and all his friends in the Marine Corp and the battles they were in. Up until that day he had never talked to me about his service. It kind of makes me wonder if he felt something was about to happen and wanted to let me know about his service. He told me once that while he enjoyed being a Marine, any normal person would never want to be in a war situation, and that actually being in a war is not glamourous or fun and should never be looked upon as such.
He was excited that there was a website devoted to Korean War veterens (He wasn't on the Internet and didn't know how to use a computer) and asked me to see if any of his buddies were still around. Unfortunately, I didn't get the names of anyone he served with. I figured there would be time for that later.
After getting out of the Corp, my Mom said Dad became the peaceful, kind and happy individual that I knew as my father. He started his own business and raised a family of seven children.
He had a full military funeral and I am very proud of him and the Marine Corp. The Corp instilled in him the values of courage, bravery, honesty and hard work that he passed on to all of his kids and for that we are all grateful.
The next time you get together for a reunion, please raise a drink to my dad. He loved all of you and he loved the Marine Corp. God bless you for your service to our country. Semper Fi.

My uncle, Wayne E. Frisbey, USMC was a proud member of the Frozen Chosen. He never spoke much about his experiences in Korea, possibly because he did not want to relive the pain he and all of you experienced. I suspect also he chose not to discuss his experiences much was because he was a man who chose to be happy, positive, and lighthearted. I can remember one incident in particular when I was a young teen he spoke some of his experiences, but being the practical joker he was, I wasn't certain if he was having fun at my expense oe telling me the truth, which later I learned it was fact.
