He was born September 1, 1932, in Oklahoma, and lived in California, Texas, and Arizona as well. He died in 1995, and has a notation on his headstone about having served in the U.S. Army. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Comments: I am lookng for information about my late father, Orris Otte. He was also nicknamed "Jake" or "Johnny" and served in Korea. He never spoke to his children about his service experiences, and he died when I was still a child in 1981. My mother says that his job in the army was to put up telephone (communications) wiring, and then take it down as needed.
I do not know what unit he was with. I scanned a photo from 1953, when he returned from Korea, and put it at http://www.ginnysanchez.com/pix/orrisotte.JPG to help with identification.
If anyone can tell me how to find my father's service records, or if they remember him and/or served with him, please contact me. Thanks so much.

Comments: My father passed away last year from cancer. I know nothing about his time in Korea. I didn't even know he had been there until I found his bronze stars cleaning the attic when I was 19. He only spoke of it once. I had found pictures of him and his buddies laughing and trying to stay warm with a fire in a garbage can. When I showed him the picture, he looked at it for a long time. He simply said he died, referring to the other man in the picture. I believe he was a paratrooper, if that is the correct term. I don't want details of his time, even if they are available. I feel that it would be betraying his choice not to talk about it, but I would like to know if anyone who served with him made it out alive. I keep most of the pictures with me to not forget his and the others time there and what happened. Thank you.

Comments: Hello, I am the youngest daughter of Capt. Jerry Mau who is featured in this book under Para-pants. This story is about my father and I am so elated that I have found some information about him. You see, my father died on July 16, 1979 when I was only 6 years old. I don't know much about him or of his other children and I've been desperatley trying to know my dad. If any of you have any information regarding him, pictures, stories, etc. please email me at cecilia.mau@aaa.army.mil. To all of those who served with my dad, bless you and I thank you sincerely for being there for my dad and for all of us.

Comments: Would like to have contact with anyone who knew Sgt. Steven Long. Unfortunately Steve is now deseased. Steve did talk about his unit in Korea. Steve said that the Special Forces asked for volunteers for a new Ranger unit, they were called the GHOST RAIDERS. They saw very nasty action and took great loses in combat. There was also a man here in Leavenworth, Kansas that was also with Steve in the same unit Jack Hill. I did not know Jack, but I heard of the action he saw too. Please contact me if anyone knew either of these two brave men.
Thank you!!!!!
