Comments: Looking for anyone with info on my father-in-law when he served in Korea from 1951-1954. He told me once that they hauled him out of a bar to drive Eisenhower. Eisenhower was there in Dec of 1952? He didn't talk about all the things he saw there or did, but I now know that you just don't talk about things like that. Looking for Chuck Servant? that may have served with him or anyone else that remembers my father-in-law Charles Finley he was a Private possibly in chemicals because he told my husband(his son) about stirring an oatmeal looking substance (Maybe Napome?)He had Red hair back then. Any info appreciated God Bless you and yours, Emma Finley

Comments: My dad was in infantry and artillary.
Born: Dixon, Missouri Raised in St. Louis, Missouri
Age: 74
He served on the front lines and in the artillary division. His military records were destroyed back in the 1970's in that fire at the St. Louis headquarters for records that destroyed most of the records for the military at that time. Please, if anyne can help my dad find his records, or what unit he was in,or even a roll call sheet, we would appreciate it so much. Do you know of any other way to find records if they were destroyed in the fire?

Comments: Hi. I'm trying to find out about my dad. He's 74 now and still going strong, but he is haunted by some things that happened while in Korea. I've asked him questions, but he says "please don't dig up my past, you won't love me." The words I listed in the "keywords" section is all I really know. He was part of some special section of the army that jumped from planes behind enemy lines and took care of whatever they had to do. Is that what a Ranger is? I don't even know. I'm trying to get my mother to obtain his records, but I read on the net that most records from his era were destroyed in a fire. I really want to know who my dad was - not so I can talk to him about it (cause he doesn't want to), but I just feel like I NEED to know. I would love to surprise him with replacements of his medals. Dad had them stored in the attic of his farm house and my nephew got in there and SOLD them for small change. Dad's heart was broke. I can't try to get them replaced if I don't know anything about him or his service for our country. I would also think it would be so neat to locate some of the guys that served with him. I know many are probably passed on, but I would love to find out if any are still alive. I don't know his unit or ANYTHING!!! Any help would be great. Thanks.

Comments: I'm searching for information that anyone may have on my grandfather, Harley Gene Schwartz. He was probably known as Gene, as he seldom used his first name. All I know is that he served in Korea, and was seriously wounded. Family legend has it that his injuries came while throwing grenades back at the enemy that had thrown them at his unit, though I'm not sure if this is true, as he wouldn't talk about it. Any information on when and where he served, and with which unit would be deeply appreciated. He was from Wayland, Michigan, and would have been no older than 20 when the war ended.

Korean War Cook |

Donna Porter wrote on 2005-10-21 00:00:00.0
Comments: Hello! I'm in search of information on my grandfather, Hubert Westmoreland. He, along with my grandmother, were killed in a car accident in 1971 (8 years before I was born). I just learned today that he was indeed a Korean War veteran, thanks to the Funeral Home's information papers that were filled out at the time of their funeral. I always knew he was in the US Army, as a Cook. However, I didn't know he served in the Korean War.
So, I'm looking for ANYone with information on my grandfather..especially what Unit he was in.
Thank you Donna

Keywords: Hi, my father died when I was 3 years old and I don't know much about him. I would like to find anyone that might have known him. I would also love to find out if there is footage of him out there somewhere that was taken during the war. His name was William Jr. Dugan, but sometimes they called him "Oats" as a nickname. He was from Maysville, Kentucky. Please, if anyone remembers him, contact me, it would mean the world to me.

Comments: My father, Socrates Martinez-Vazquez served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. He was a great husband, father and friend. Even though he passed away four years ago (March 25, 2001) from heart failure, I still miss him every day. He was from Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico and I don't have any pictures of him during that period of his life. If anyone that knew him or has pictures of him could contact me I will forever appreciate it. God, bless all the brave Men and Women who served and are still serving in the military.
