He reached the Rank of Staff Sargent and awarded the following decorations during his service: Army Good Conduct Medal with three ribbon clasps, National Defense Service Medal, Army Korean Service Medal (for service in Japan during Korean War), United Nations Korea Medal. I remember meeting a gentleman several years ago who wore a Korea Veterans Ball Cap and began to cry when I thanked him for his service and after comforting him explained that in the fifty years since his Korean Service not one person had ever said thank you to him!
