Comments: I am looking for others who served in Korea in a unit
with no insignia's on their uniforms nor were they
allowed to carry ID of any sort. I know that there
are others out there who went places we can't talk
about here and did stuff that isn't discussable.

1963-1965 TRAFFIC ACCIDENT, BLACK MAN

Comments: Greetings,

I am looking for my grandfather.

He was stationed in/around Uijeongbu (possibly Camp Red
Cloud)

I don't know his name, what division/unit, age, etc.

What I do know is that he and my grandmother met in
Uijeongbu at the US Army Services Club, in the early
1960s. They conceived and planned to get married.
Before they could, he died in a traffic accident. This
was in between 1963-1965.

Can anyone please help?

Thank you.

Robert

The following is from stories I heard. He enlisted at age 20, in Texas. His grandmother, Annie Cherry signed for him to enlist because his mother refused to.

He was injured by an exploding stove while in Korea. A telegram was sent to his mother that he was missing in action, but was later found in a hospital.

Any information is appreciated.

Comments: Comments: I am trying to find any information about my father and his service in Korea. He was in Japan when the war broke out and we have no information about his unit, company etc. because like many other veterans, his personal records were lost in transit and his military records were destroyed in the same storage facility fire as many others. We know he was assigned in a tank unit but not much else. I have some photo's of him and the tanks as well as a tracked snow vehicle, but the pictures of him in uniform do not clearly show his unit emblem/patch. We have an envelope post marked June 16, 1951, about five months before being discharged, with the following address:
Sgt. Acie E. Ray, 15378119,
7.RCN.CO.,
APO 7,

Any assistance is appreciated.

Comments: My father passed away in 2007 and though he never saw combat in his nine years of military service (1948-1957) his love and memories of his Army Service were his greatest joy. He reached the Rank of Staff Sargent and awarded the following decorations during his service: Army Good Conduct Medal with three ribbon clasps, National Defense Service Medal, Army Korean Service Medal (for service in Japan during Korean War), United Nations Korea Medal.

I remember meeting a gentleman several years ago who wore a Korea Veterans Ball Cap and began to cry when I thanked him for his service and after comforting him explained that in the fifty years since his Korean Service not one person had ever said thank you to him!
And while this posting is for my father it goes out to all those who served their country during the Korean Conflict! God Bless You All!
