Comments: I would like to know how to find out what unit my father was in. He was killed when I was 3. Sadly now all his sisters and brothers are deceased as well. I am ashamed to say the only things I know is: S/sgt Raymond E Boone joined when he was 17, I think his basic was a Lackland, he was in radar, he served in Alaska, then wsa stationed in Vermont, then Korea, and finally in Michigan (?River Run), He was killed there in an auto accident going from the base hom in June 1955. Anyone who may have known him or can tell me how I can get infoabout his units and so forth, I would greatly appreciate it.

Comments: My step-father served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He told me that he was involved in photo intelligence. He did not go into detail. He is now deceased, and I am looking for information from anyone who may have also been involved in photo intelligence during the Korean War.
The only other tidbit I am aware of is that he was present at Queen Elizabeth's coronation and gave me pictures of it.
Any information would be helpful.
Thank you!

He was Moe Applegate, and was in what he called crypto during 1952-1954. I know that he want to Amsterdam frequently, and that two of his friends were Ron Wilson of Cincinnati, and Omar Jennings of Baltimore. Does anyone know of this?

Comments: I am looking for information about my father's military service. Both of my parents died when my sister and I were young and neither of them thought to tell us about his service. His records were destroyed in a fire at the VA in the 1970's. After 14 years of searching we finally compiled enough information to have his grave marker ordered and placed.
This is all that I know:
Name: James Taylor Flynn
Service Dates: August 6, 1951 - April 5, 1957
Discharge: Honorable
Rank: Staff Sergeant
I would appreciate any information that anyone has about where and in what units he served in. I'd also like to know what he actually did, and whether he went to Korea.

RAF pilot flying F84's with USAF in Korea |

Comments: I am looking for any information about an RAF Pilot Flt.Lte. W.T.L. Rigby RAF. He was usually known as Les Rigby. Both Les and his wife are now deceased, but his daughter has a letter from his wife saying that he flew F84's with the USAF in Korea in 1953.
I know that a few RAF pilots flew with the USAF but information is hard to find. He flew Spitfires in Burma during WWII, then Korea (I have his Korea medal) and then spent quite a few years flying with the Hong Kong Auxiliary Air Force after converting to helicopters.
If anybody has any information at all I would be pleased to hear from you.

A book honoring our local veterans is in the works and we'd like his information shared, too. He deserves to be properly honored (as all veterans do!) and his children should be able to witness it. I'm sure they'll be thankful for any help! Raymond is deceased. He passed on in December of 1973. He was born in Danbury CT in 1933. I don't know his unit or his actual service dates (only that he served 4 years, 4 months and 28 days for the US Air Force in Korea. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated!

Comments: I am the daughter of a deceased Korean War veteran. My family and I are trying to piece together my father's military history. We know he was in the Air Force reserves and became active during the Korean War (was navy pilot in WWII). His name was John A Anderson II (aka Andy during his service years). He was born in 1923 and would have been an older pilot involved in short term possibly special ops activities. He was from Mass. and spoke with a strong Weymouth accent with a slight Swedish inflection. He was about 5'10", 140 lbs, round face, curly hair but balding at the front. Training was in electicial engineering, radar and aeronautics design. My father retired a colonel in 1973. We have been unable to receive any records from the NPRC. Any information or suggestions would be appreciated.

also the name of the book he wrote about his Korean War experiences.

From:
John Gilbert psher6207@s2.sonnet.com
My father, 1st Lt. John M. Gilbert III, was killed in Korea in June of
1951. He was an aviator and was flying C119's. The only information I
have is that the all the planes flying in the formation were involved
in a military accident. I believe that they were hit by allied
artillery.
The official death notification only says, cause of death, aircraft
accident, line of duty, not misconduct. My mother never talked about
it and died when I was very young. I had no contact with any member of
my father's family until I was 18.
All photos and records were destroyed by fire when I was about 4 years
old. At any rate, my father was from Rochester, NY. I subsequently
received many photos and letters but never any details of what really
happened.
I have a newspaper clipping which indicates that three planes were shot
down. Other than that I know very little. If anyone remembers any
incident where some C119's were shot down I would greatly appreciate the
information.
Thank you very much.
