Comments: I am posting this message for my dad, Curtis Austin - he served in the 8th Supply Squadron 1951-1952 in Suwon and would like to contact anyone who served with him. One particular name he mentioned was Cartis (last name and I am unsure of spelling). If you served with him, please e-mail me (I still can't get him on the computer)at furnmfgrep@aol.com - thanks, Debbie Austin

I know he was at Lowry prior to going to Korea. Have article of Lowry/Ft. Warren ballgames, date of article is May 29th, 1948. The following people are mentioned in the article, SSgt. Marshall Watkins, Sgt. Joe Clements, Lt. George Dent, SSgt. Joe Fleming, Cpt. James Lannon, 1LT Daniel McCarthy, and Msgt. James Meadlock. If you remember my father and can assist me in getting information on his career. Please email me. Thank You.

8th Fighter Bomber Wing
Stationed at Itazuke AB, Japan, at the beginning of the Korean War and assigned to the Fifth Air Force, the 8th FBW controlled combat groups and attached squadrons that conducted combat operations in Korea, flying mostly interdiction and close air support missions. The 8th FBG and its squadrons moved to South Korea on August 11, 1950, while the wing remained in Japan and assumed operational control of other combat units. The wing replaced the 6131st Tactical Support Wing and reunited with its tactical group in Korea in December 1950. Until the end of the war, it remained in South Korea, performing a variety of missions, including some strategic bombardment, air cover for bombers, armed reconnaissance, and low-level bombing and strafing for interdiction and ground support.

Looking for info on an F-80 strike made, inadvertently, on an American
Convoy. The date was 10 July 1950. Near Chochiwon Korea. They made one
strafing run and then broke it off.
Must have saw the hood panels on the trucks and realized their mistake.
Please Email or put info in The Korean War Project.
