Including the officical public release of 50,000th Sorties photo. Also have a few pics of 319th F-94s, Only F-86 photos are 51st FIS. All of the 8th photos are F-80s. Downed Aircraft K-23

Comments: I am seeking information about a crashed aircraft, believed to be an F-80 which crashed and burned off the end of the runway at K-23 about Oct 15, 1950. The aircraft was almost completely destroyed. There were no visible identifying numbers. The pilots body was burned, but he had a crewcut. His helmet was there. It was yellow with a red lightning bolt on it. The person who found this crash said it was in a deep ravine covered with foilage and if you did not know it was there you would never see it. After all these years, he asked me to find out if this crash was ever reported. He was in the Army and on the move at the time.

F86 named The Georgia Peach

Comments: Was looking at a book, Air War over Korea by Jerry Scutts and found a picture with of a F-86 from the 8th Wing being loaded with bombs in June 1953 at K-13.

I was in the 51st FIW across the runway and crewed an F-86 named My Georgia Peach - Ruth untill it crashed at K-14 and then crewed My Georgia Peach II.

Looks like the crewchief on The Georgia Peach was Claney.

History Info

Comments: Hi, Trying to find exact information on service of S/SGT. Jack B. McCart. This is one of my student's grandfather. We are doing a history project of this semester family members that fought in US conflicts and wars. We are trying to find out information on exactly which area/unit he served and then will built a history of that unit. JB has a plaque that states S/SGT. McCart was a member of the 51st wing and the 20th Air Force. He joined the Air Force Nov. 22, 1940. Any information on how to find out about this would be helpful. Thank You

Comments: Looking for old friends who I worked on the line with.I came to K-13 which is Suwon Korea in late 1952 to 53.I was in Armorment and I came. from Lowry AFBase Colorado,which I was a gunner turent sys mac.The long cold nights on the line and hoping we would not get shot at.We had a Korean kid who would hang out with us my the name of Chicken who we bought a present for on Christmas day.,had one of the crew from supply pick it up in Japan.Left a lot of buddies behind they will live in spirt and as I am growing old I will never forget that place in time.Hopeto hear from someone out there and I hope the Korean people will not forget us for what we did.
