Comments: I was assigned to the 8th Bomb Sq training as an Armorer and OJT gunner the first part of 1949. It was my first assignment from basic training. I was reassigned to the FEAF First Air Postal unit in June of 1949 when the Air Force relieved the Army of the postal duties at APO 328. I spent the remainder of my Yokota assignment with the Postal Unit. Returned to the states in November 1951 for a tour at Ellington AFB, Texas and my discharge in August 1952.

Comments: I was in Japan from May 1948 until the Korean war stationed at Johnson AB. when the war began I transferred to the 3rd group at Yokota. I spent the next 16 months in the group at Iwakuni K-2, and K-8. I rotated in October 1951 and went to the Intel school at Lowry AFB, Colo. I was the first combat intel tech to rotate to the school. I flew several B-26 missions as an observer to learn first hand what a B-26 mission was like. Normal duty I helped brief the crews before missions, debriefed crews upon their return and reported to Fifth AF via teletype. I only served 3 months at Kunson (K-8) as my 30 month tour in the Pacific was long over. I have very fond memories of my time with the 8th BS. I would like to correspond with members and perhaps even email or chat with some. There are not many of us left. I am 79 years old. Bruce Geil

The reunion in Ft Walton Beach was great. The 8th lives on as the
8th Special Operations Squadron, writing history as we chat.
Anyone who would like to help complete the record of the 8th's
history contact me on E-mail

Had guys there that had flown with the 8th in 1942 and later during WWII
as well as Korea and Vietnam. The current 8th was celebrating the 80th
anniversary of the squadron with a banquet.

They invited the reunion folks to help them celebrate. We were treated
very well. Got the red carpet treatment, visited the squadron, had a
briefing by the Commander. Lt Col Bernie Moore on recent history and
current ops.

Its still a unit that can take a lot of pride in doing the hard stuff
well.

The war ended the day we left the states for Korea. In March 54, we

was still intact in June 54. Is there any way to look up the names of

I am seeking any further information on my father - 1LT Ralph Porter
Bradley, listed as died while missing 12-31-1953. Where was he
captured, what camps, how do we know he died, when were the US
authorities notified and by whom?

1LT Ralph Porter Bradley was with the 8th Bomb Sq, 3rd Bomb Group (L)
as a navigator from 22 April 1951 thru 16 June 1951. On June 13, 1951
he was declared missing in action and dropped from rolls 16Jun51.

It shows 22 combat missions, missing on the 22nd.

I was only 2 1/2 years old when we lost him. I really would like to
know if anyone remembers him or his crew members. Any information would
help me put togther his family history as well as mine.

Thank you for your assistance.
