Comments: Still looking for men and women who served with the 437th Troop Carrier Wing at O'Hare Field, Shaw AFB, SC , Korea & Japan.
This includes members assigned to the 315th as well, even if only for a short period of time.
We would like to invite you to participate in our FREE Korean War Era Veterans Websites and chats. We have lots of photos and stories to share with you.
Since they are private, please send us your regular address which is just for our records so we know where you live.
Include a little info of when and where you served with either the 437th or the 315th.
We have located several hundred of our personnel.

Comments: My father, SMSgt. Jack L. Gilbert, Sr., USAF (ret'd.), was a C-47 engineer with the 83rd after the unit joined the 437th TCW at Brady. He was a Navy veteran of WW II (flew in PBYs in the Aleutions) and a veteran of the Berlin Airlift, having flown in C-54s. Finished his career as a C-141 engineer in the 76th MAS, 437th MAW, Charleston AFB, S.C., in August of 1972. Total service was from Jan.'42-Aug.'72. Now lives in Summerville, S.C. Comments: After we were run out of K-14, Kimpo, in January 51 we reorganized at Tachikawa and were reassigned to Brady AB near Fukuoka, Japan. We joined up with a Reserve C-46 outfit that had recently come from O'Hare, "Chicago's Own." I do not remember the tail number of the C-46 that I was flight engineer on until I rotated to the ZI in May or June 51.
Keywords: Often called "Tommy." Crew chief and Flight Engineer of C-46D, 44-78270, which was destroyed in landing accident at Chung-ju early in January 1951.
