| GEORGE BRENCKLE wrote on July 19, 2011 CITY AND STATE: OSPREY FL UNIT: BLUE TAIL FLIES SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: AIR FORCE VETERAN Comments: I served with Jimmy Breuton in Korea and saw his wife's message on this site. I remember serving with Jimmy in Korea and we were good friends then. He was an excellent pilot. We played many card games together between flights. This was in 1951-1952. On returning to the staes when he went into the C-130's and I did not but went into the C-119's and after Miami I left the service. I later flew with the RI National Guard. Keywords: C-119 |

| ROBERT SKAPIK JR. wrote on September 29, 2006 CITY AND STATE: GREENWOOD IN UNIT: SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: INTERESTED PERSON Comments: Hello, My name is Robert Skapik. I am an airline for a Republic Airways in Indianapolis IN. I am doing some research on the 817TH TCS C-119 Flying Boxcar. A friend of my dad's use to fly this aircraft. He has been looking for a model of it. I found one, but it is a plastic kit that I have to build. I would like to build one of the aircraft in his unit but I am unable to find a photo of the aircraft and Google. Could someone please help me in getting a side shot of the full aircraft in that color scheme. All i know so far is that it is bare metal with a blue and white stripe tail. I would really appreciate the help. Thanxs for your time. Sincerely, Robert Skapik Keywords: NA |

483RD FIELD MAINTENCE ENGINE BUILD UP |
| THOMAS CHAMPION wrote on February 11, 2003 CITY AND STATE: UNIT: 483 FLD MAINT SQ. ENGINE BUILD UP SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: AIR FORCE VETERAN - KOREA Comments: WE joined the 403 TCW at Portland Oregon in March 1952 and subsequently road a bus to Seattle to board the USNS Aultman. 15 or so days later we arrived in Fuchu. We boarded the train for the overnight trip to Ashiya. I worked in ENGINE BUILD UP supporting the 6 squadrons of C-119's and the Greek C-47's until I came home in June 1954. Many great memories such as seeing C-119's lined up all the way down the runway, and the taxiways performing their engine run-ups at the same time and then taxiing nose to tail to begin takeoff at 10 second separation. They flew out over the water, formed up and came back over the base in formation. I've been told there were 80-90 planes in the formation Keywords: I have many pictures of the fuselage art.
