Comments: Maintained contact with Harry Hoch at the Long Beach reunions until his death, but lost track of Tommy upon returning Stateside in 1951. Have been in touch with one of my other gunners, Eddie Stearns, through the internet and would like to learn any info on Gregson.
Keywords: Assigned as Navigator with the 730th Bomb Squadron, 452nd Bomb Group, 1950/1951. Flew with several different pilots and gunners, but most frequently with Harry Hoch, the pilot and Tommy Gregson, our gunner

Comments: Murphy, the photo you posted online & labeled is one I have (8x10, nice shot). Now I can name the other men, and know they were all gunners. My Dad's discharge papers are clearly readable (under "MOST SIGNIFICANT DUTY ASIGNMENT") 342nd Bomb Med, 97th Bomb Wing, Medium. Military records for his award of the DFC in combat/crash landing incident with Savage (pilot) & Wolf (navigator) indicate 730th Sq (Light), 452nd Bomb Wing (Light). My dad being in more than one Squadron (active duty from Aug 1950 thru Jan 1952), complicates my search & labeling men & planes in photos. I doubt that I have all his records. Someone else had everything for decades. I may get more. Any factual detail is of great personal value to me, and for creating a family keepsake album.
I will look through his stuff. If I find more details I'll add to the search & contacts.

REMEMBERING A GUNNERS B-26 EXPERIENCE |

Keith Struckman wrote on 2005-04-16 12:40:15.0
Comments: What an interestin saga, thanks to an excellent pilot,Thomas J. Mullin, we made it home to Pusan every night. I have one excellent Air Force photograph of our squadron, probably taken in Oct 1951 that shows approximately 75 crewmen posed in front of a B-26. The clarity is good, I can easily identify individuals.
Question Does anyone know of a B-26 that still has an intact gunners compartment that I could visit and crawl into? I would like to do that one more time Keith Struckman mwvis@bresnan.net

THE 'LAST REUNION' |

Frank Hokr wrote on 2004-08-12 19:26:56.0
Comments: Attended the "Last Reunion" at Long Beach, 8/7/2004. A Big Salute to all the fellows who organize the get together. Nice touch of having each attendee identify himself and his unit, rather than having entertainers sing us the old sentimental songs. Was reunited with one of my gunners: Eddie Sterns and his two strapping BIG sons. Sat with Bob Rohlfing, my room mate at Miho and later at Misawa. Shared the table with Bob Gossman, a 730th pilot and paid trbute to my "regular" pilot, Harry Hoch who was my primary pilot on 80% of my missions. Brought along copies of photos taken of Mel Wolf's completing his 50 mission tour. Thank you for this website which will allow us 'old geezers' to stay in touch. Hokr

According to my map of Korea, saved by me after my return of duty with
the 730th Bomb Squadron, this city is located directly south of
Pyongyang, along the railroad. About the same distance south as it is
from the most extreme western tip of Korea. Its proper spelling,
