Comments: Jimmy went to the 4th immediately in a call for pilots with Robbie Riesner and some others. I was in Kingston Jamaica flying a P-47 when Howell went down. I didn't know the facts until I read them here.
The day Major Williams was KIA Masterson and I were flying a misson to Anju. I knew and admired Clyde Voss as any Aggie class of '49 would a member of the class of '41. A good man and and good pilot. I read with interest the hollywood story "Mother" Rigsby put together. Why did I think he was the hero? Then I read the letter Col. Smith wrote to the Williams famly. That is exactly the way I remember it.
I have been doing some research on ancesters in the Civil War and began to wonder if my 8 grand children would be able to find my record in Korea. So I just checked and guess what? I couldn't find a track. That was a great time for me. I loved the training at Shaw. Shrekingost saved my butt one day by finding a port side tiptank shakle wouldn't stay locked. I had landed that plane the day before with a full tank on the left side and no tip on the right.
I thought Ed Stoltz and Ralph White , Jim Furholmen and Scattergood were some of the best I came across in the AF.
I was pleased to serve also as WPIO for both Chickering and Andrews. I would have loved to stay in recce work but some how mats got me and it went down hill from there.
I can fill some spots on Earl Guthrie's flying after he left the service. If anybody is interested. He became a really outstanding test pilot for GD. Even did some fine Recce work in a B-58 during the Cuban missile crisis. In this material he is shown as deceased. I went to his funeral.
I'd love to hear from anybody in the April to Nov, 1952 time block. Or anybody else.
Regards,
John E. Orr

Comments: Hi there, my father Bill (William) Massey recently passed away and I am trying to prove he received commendations, including a Purple Heart, so that can be etched on his headstone. Problem is, the DD 214 is missing and the gov't says the records from his service were lost in a fire. Dad told me he got the medals for actions taken in March, 1953. I don't know what exactly he did, besides being a Chaplain's Assistant and assisting at an orphanage in Bupyong. ANY information about my dad would help, even if you just knew him when he was in training in Alabama (I think he said Alabama...) My email is mtwriter@mt.net Thanks and God Bless.

Although he would not reveal to us his real job, he later told us he had secret clearances above top secret. I have read some of the recent books, and many things have obviously been declassified.
Anyone remember my dad? Any ideas on how to get the information from the AF? Thanks,

Comments: I lost my Dad to cancer on 01/29/01. I do have a lot of his books and pictures, and his 67th recon squad mug "Hubba Hubba" with the six armed bug on it. I sure miss him, and I am very proud of him for everything he has done for our country. I remember all the stories he told me about the wars, how he got shot down twice, once on enemy lines and had to crawl back to base because his back was broke. He was a pilot, flight leader, photographer and photo interpreter. He retired from the Air Force in 1965, he was 77 years old when he passed away on 01/29/01. I am the Lab Manager at a Photo Lab and I aways tell customers about my Dad and show them pictures because I don't want him or any veteran to be forgotten. Unfortunatley I didn't have much time with my Dad ( I was born on 05/17/77) but our time together was precious. Please e-mail me if you want to, maybe you knew my Dad.

Comments: Looking for a good clear photo of the Witch's Tit taken from Kimpo AB for use in our book we are compiling on "Photographic Reconnaissance and Interprettion During the Korean War". Credit will be given if photo is used. I served in the 67th RTS from May 1951 (K-2) and left it from Kimpo (K-14) in February 1952. Saw the Korean from the start as a photo interpreter assigned to the 548th Recon Tech Sqdn at Yokota AB,Japan. When I went from M/Sgt to 2nd Lt I had to be transferred and my destination was the 67th RTS. Was fortunate to be able to attend the 1st Reunion of the 67TRW at Dayton, Ohio last year and the 2nd one at Nashville, Tennessee this year. Next year's is scheduled for San Antonio, Texas.

Comments: Dear Sirs: I have found a old 1953? 67th Recon "wing" book signed by 73 people
I really hate seeing an old keepsake like this stay lost - It must be worth something to someone. A museum were it might have a place of honor? If you know of a place were this old book could spend its last days please let me know Yours: David Pearson

Comments: My grandfather, Charles Willard "Chuck" Shimer, was in the 67th Supply Squadron from March of 1951 to February of 1952. He was initially in the 543rd Ammo Supply Squadron, first from Pueblo, Colo. to Norton AFB, San Bernardino, CA to Korea in September 1950. He was wounded and evacuated to Nagoya, Japan on December 23rd, 1950. I would love any information anyone can provide me on the units mentioned, plus Company B 8069th Ranger Bn. Charles was the acting first sergeant from Mar to May of 1951 with the 67th Supply Squadron and was later assigned as a Demolition Tech with the Ranger Bn above. Thanks for your assistance! Comments: Transfered from 136th FB Wing as were several others, in February 1952. Looking for an old pal, Jack Lane who was in the supply Sqdn. I was there when infiltrators poisoned our water supply. A few guys in our unit were sick. The only deaths wre in the 4th Fighter Wing, across the field from us at Kimpo.

Comments: Just a quick note to direct your attention to a small website that has photos from K-14, Kimpo air base, circa '53-'54. Mostly stuff from the perspective of the 336th FIS -- Sabre jocks. But a few photos that may appeal to any who served at K-14.

Comments: I arrived at Kimpo in March 53 and left in December 53. I worked the control desk at the 67th RTS and left on the AF Operation Bootstrap program. I returned on the Revisit Korea program in 93 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Article in the Denver Post (29 Mar 99)from the Dallas Morning News by David Flick identified the website. Your link to www.theforgottenvictory.org and their attempt at a Korean war museum in IL is very good.

"Bedcheck Charlie" made it difficult at times as we had to shut off all

conditions ,but, nothing compared to you guys.
Was there when THE MIG W/the defected chinese pilot landed on the

My father, Col. Harvey R. Striegler, was Airbase Group Commander of the
67th Tac Air Recon Wing at Kimpo Airbase in Korea 1951-52. Dad passed
away in September 1995, but he was always proud of his 30+ years of
active and reserve military service. Thanks for honoring our Korean War
veterans.
I am a Vietnam veteran (Army Field Artillery) and have recently posted
my own web site at www.erols.com/tlstrieg.
