Comments: The Ramada Inn is remodeling. I have two wall hangings they were going to throw away. I thing Dana had made them up. One shows a C-47 on the beach, the other has photos and patches. I'll keep them at my home. Anyone can stop by for a visit. We are only twenty miles of I-95 . Exit #98 .

Comments: We shared treasured good memories and sad times as well when we lost a buddy by the name of airman Donald Nigroni from New York. Our Squardron was a family and were very tight. We were a team and proud to be called a Kyushu Gypsy. Our main objectives were, drop the Army, air evacuation and return our wounded and expired boys back to Japan.

Keywords: Maintained C-47's & later C-119 Box Cars out of Ashiya between 1952 & 1955. Flew as crew chief into K-18 & K-16 during that period. Names of some buddies are: John Johnson who played football at our maintenance facility in Ashia. Hilderbran & Hayes from Ohio who was raised in Georgia at an early age and Sam Moss attached in maintenance.

He divorced my mother during the war and married a Korean National. He has been deceased since 1981.

Comments: I was with the 21st TCS, changed to 6461st TCS sometime in late 52. I was there in 52 - 53 as a Radio Operator flying on the C-47 Goonies. I had to return to the ZI in June of 1953 on emergency leave. As a result I did not return to K-16 and never received my Air Medal (I flew 42 C1 Missions) I should be on orders with someone but can't seem to find any of the guys I knew. I lived in tent 706.

Anyone have any ideas? My hat is off to all you gypsies-we did a great job saving lives.

Comments: I served in Japan with detachments in Koera between 1952-1954 with the 6461 Gypsies

I'm sure many a GI remember being airlifted to safety, or to a hospital while wounded. Our outfit was responsible for saving many life's. We lost a few planes landing on the Korean beaches with our C47, but all in all it was worth it.
