Comments: I was with the "B" Flight Hellbirds USAF Security Police 51st Security Police Squadron 1975-1976-seems like a long time ago I have a grown child and soon will be a grandpa. Things sure are different now in the world than they were then. I am not on the internet but I am using a relative's computer. Would not mind hearing from some of my former buddies. I remember a Ssgt named Richard Giles, african american then late 20's early 30"s when we were in country. Recently read an airman performance report (apr) he wrote on me (rated me much better than i really was) and wondered what happened to him and all the other guy's (like Msgt "steel"bill.

Comments: My father, Richard (Dick) Teel was an airman in the 5th "MULE TRAIN" motor transport. He is deceased but I remember the MULE TRAIN patches he had (my oldest brother has them now) and pictures of a smoke covered hill he called "suicide mountain" that they had to drive their trucks up. I also remember lots of pictures of wrecked prop-driven corsairs and huge stacks of bombs. If anyone knows where I can get any reproductions of patches, etc, let me know, I am collecting things for a wall in my den. Also, if anyone remembers serving with my father, let me know.

Comments: I am seeking information on a unit that was shipped to Korea from S.A.A.C. (Lackland Field) San Antonio, Texas in the fall of 1946. It was called the Mule Project. I was a member of this unit.

Comments: I noticed in Col.Bud Bitemans posting he has knowledge of where the 6002 Air Base Group was and he mentions the 18th Fighter Bomber Wing. My Dad was a gunner on a B-26 in the 18th Fighter Bomber Wing, the fighter planes that were where he was (K-55) was the 67th Fighter Group. The B-26's were black with red nacelles and red on the rudder and I think maybe wing tips. Dad has a red cap from Korea that has a Rooster that has on boxing gloves on it. I think they were called the fighting cocks. He was there from 53 to 54. Dad likes the fighter planes (but not as much as a (B-26) and he said when he first saw the planes of the 67th they had Royal Blue painted on the tails with four stars, later that was changed to Red,White, and Blue stripes on the tail and the nose. With all that said my question to Col. Biteman is Would you know where I might find any info. on the B-26's of the group my Dad was in? As a side note Dad was first with the 342nd group 13th Bomber Squadron at K-8 the first three weeks he was in Korea then he he got sent to the !8th Fighter Bomber Wing at K-55. I was directed to this site from the 13th Bomber Squadron site. Regards, Ernest Laky Birmingham,Alabama

Comments: I would like to locate anyone who served as an Air Policeman in Korea during the war. I was in the first group of Air Force personnel to arrive at K-2 to open the base for air operations. I was at K-2 from early July 1950 through October 1951.
I have asked Dr. John Brokaw, Historian of the Air Force Security police Association to check your site. We are trying to correct the official Air Force records which reports that no Air policemen were killed in Korea. We know this is in error, and it is not easy to get them to correct official records.

From Col Bud Biteman, while explaining the role of the 6002nd:
" Actually, the 6002 was not a fighter bomber wing, but served as the air base support wing for the 18th fighter bomber wing as it wandered around the various korean bases... k-2, k-9, k-10, k-16, k-24, k-46, k-55 et al."
