Comments: I'm looking for anyone that knew or served with my father, Lt. Col. (retired as full Colonel) Russell Bessom.

My parents were both in Nagoya (he was stationed there between 1954-1956(7?) in the Provost Marshall's office, Chief of Security.

I am a Korean adoptee, just recently received quite a few pictures of Officers (with my Dad), some social, some Dept of Defense photos. Some are marked, some not and if anyone remembers him, or recieving a medal by him, I'd be happy to share those photos with you.

Sincerely,

Comments: My heaquarters was the 6004th Air Intelligence Service Squadron in Tokyo, Japan. I was assigned to Korea from 1952 to 1953 and our detachment was on the compound of the 5th Air Force Heaquarters. It was across the road from the 8th Army Headquarters. I was returned to Tokyo from 1953-1954and returned to the states where I served in South Carolina at Shaw AFB for 6 months before my discharge there. The air force awarded me 3 battle stars for serving in Korea. My work at our headquarters was published after I returned to the states, as I was told by my friend, Paul Ono, of Gardena, California. I felt that it was my duty and privilege to have served my country = this great land of ours = The USA!

Looking for info on Clare Ray Vaughn

Genevieve Vaughn wrote on 2004-07-13 22:02:51.0

Comments: Am looking for anyone who knew my father, Maj. (Clare) Ray Vaughn. He was called Ray and often signed his name “C. R. Vaughn”. I think he got a wartime promotion to Lt. Col. He was in the Fifth Air Force and was killed 7/6/1950 at Itazuke AFB.

We were stationed in Nagoya 1948-50, where he was in the adjutant general’s office. He was in an early party bound for Korea when he was killed. Before Japan he was stationed at Lowry AFB in Denver.

The nuclear family survivors are my mother, Mary Dyer Vaughn, myself, and my brother Terry David Vaughn.

Names I remember from the time are Dusty Miller, Stan Koziara, and Col. West. Also teachers at Nagoya American School might have known our family(?). We knew a family whose daughters were Josephine and Lucille Burris.

Sincerely,

Genevieve Vaughn
