Looking for Air Police who know Neil Barber |

Tina Jackson wrote on 2008-05-30 12:00:02.0
Comments: We are looking for anyone who might remember Neil Barber. (Tina Jackson is friend with computer access/skills helping him in search). Part of Neil's service record has been lost, according to St. Louis, and he is trying to verify MOS for service related injury eligibility for care at VA. He did not keep in touch with anyone he served with, many of whom were older men (they were a reserve group brought into 437th), and is afraid that many he served with may no longer be with us. (He is 78 himself). If there is anyone out there who remembers him, or even if you just might have some suggestions on who we should contact, or where to look, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Tina Jackson for Neil Barber

Peter Lindberg wrote on 2005-03-13 14:36:27.0
Comments: Hello, My father was a flight engineer (C-46) for the 85th and 86th TCS of the 437th from late 1950 to early 1952. He was based at Brady Air Base in Japan. He died in August 2004 and I am creating a display case of his Korean War service. Patches of this era seem impossible to come by, so does anyone know where I could see an image of any of the following insignias from the Korean War era: 85th and/or 86th Troop Carrier Squadrons and/or 437th Troop Carrier Wing (M) If I could at least see a color image, I am hopeful I could have a surrogate patch or insignia or plaque created. Many thanks, Peter Lindberg

The following is to corrrect the information I originally forwarded.
1. At Shaw AFB 8-14-50 untill Late Oct. 1950, 437th Troop carrier Wing
[M ] and all of its components were transfered to Kyushu, Japan.
There were 48 C 46's that were equiped with extra gas tanks for the
long flight. We occupied an old Sea plan base and built a runway with a
straw and sand base covered with steel matting, and built a tent city,
with slit trenches between each tent.
2. Rotating home in the Spring of 1950. We had four Squadrons,
83rd, 84th, 85th, based at Brady Field on Kyushu and the 86th on Honshu
at Tachikawa AFB.
3. I would be intrested in hearing from any member of any component of
the 437th TCW {M} having served in the Far East 1950 to 1953 intrested
in planning a 50th anniversary meeting in August of 2000.
