Comments: My dad was a navigator on a B-26 "Night Intruder" . His crew included Major Harold T. Anderson, 2LT Wilbur G. Watson, and Captain Everest G. Sewell.
I have in my possession many unidentified photos, etc. and am looking for a site to upload to, so that maybe someone can either indentify persons or maybe so someone can find a photo of a loved one that they may not have. I also have a copy of a one page type newspaper called "The Invader" dated March 5, 1952. Any help, or anyone who knew my dad, please contact me.

Comments: I was in the area when a B-26 blew up on our flight line. Everyone scrambled for cover as the debris was coming down.
I was on Guard duty the night an F-3D belonging to the 513th VMF landed and burst into flames. I watched helplessly, not being able to leave my post, as the Pilot and Navigator tumbled out of the aircraft. One of them stuck to the side upside down by his flight suit as the other one pulled him off the burning aircraft. Fire Engines and personnel were fast approaching.
I was on duty and we were on our break when about 2:00 A.M. a 5th Mule Train transportation driver drove on to the revetment where we had been preparing M1A2s. Instead of waiting on us as we were leaving to go assist him, he backed into place to unload. He apparently backed too far into the wrong row where fused M1A2s were ready to go out. The explosion that followed inside of this revetment blew him out of the truck. We hit the deck and when we ran in his direction he was crawling our way, charred and barely alive. The explosion destroyed the entire row of bombs and his truck...and eventually him.

Comments: I am looking for any information concerning the loss of B-26B 43-22449 over the east coast of North Korea on Apr 25, 1953. I grew up with A2C Jones and we enlisted in the Air Force together on October 22, 1951. I ended up in Miho, Japan after a short time in Korea. He flew missions with the 95th Sqdn. His pilot was Capt. Doolittle and the Navigator was 1LT Hall. I would appreciate hearing from anyone that might be able to shed some light on what and where that last mission took place.

Any material submitted may also be used in a book on the family of Damon's mother, the late Daisy Adamson Story.

Keywords: Lewis Damon Story was a Korean War veteran. He entered the Air Force in January 1951 and took his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. Upon completion of basic training, he was sent to Lowry A.F.B. to RTC and B-26 Gun School. He was then sent to combat crew training at Langley A.F.B. in Virginia before going overseas in January and being assigned to the 8th Bombardment Squad, 3rd Bombardment Group in Korea.
He was presented the Distinguished Flying Cross in August 1953 in an informal presentation at Headquarters of the 305th Bomb Wing. Colonel E. Vandevanter, Jr., commander of the 305th, gave him the award. According to the official citation, Story distinguished himself by extraordinary achievement on the night of June 23. While Airman Story and his crew were reconnoitering their target area east of Pyongyong, North Korea, a series of convoys was sighted south toward the front line. During the repeated attacks pressed on these vehicles Story demonstrated an unusual coordination with his pilot by monitoring the instruments, altimeter and air speed indicators so effectively that the pilot was allowed to concentrate fully on his primary mission of destroying the enemy. As a result, ten enemy vehicles were destroyed by fire and explosion. Story flew fifty missions and was also awarded the air medal.

Korean seeking Benefactor, Joe E. Calhoun |

Kalani O'Sullivan wrote on 2002-07-21 07:12:14.0
Comments: My name is Kalani O'Sullivan and I'm writing on behalf of Johnny Choe (Choe Pyong-Hwan), 8th SPS Interpreter. He is seeking a benefactors -- SSgt Joe E. Calhoun of the 3rd BW, Ahuni Range, 1952-53 (possibly 1954).
"Johnny" Choe was an orphan. Born in 1942, he had no family to support him and became one of those faceless children in the streets. He was "adopted" by an American, SSgt Joe C. Calhoun, in about 1952-1953 (possibly 1954). Joe was the "honcho" at the Ahuni Range which was approximately 1 1/2 miles east of the base. 4-5 enlisted men were stationed at the range and lived in a tent. Joe took Johnny in and taught him to read and write English. He also encouraged Johnny to go to Korean school. Johnny returned to Korean school where he would sit silently in the rear of the class --through the generosity of the teacher.
Johnny would like to find this man to thank him personally for taking him in during those terrible times and encouraging him in his education. "Johnny" is 60 now -- with two grandchildren and one more on the way -- and wishes to find his old friend and benefactor from the past.
Searches of the rolls of the 90th Aero Squadron Assoc., 13th Bomber Squadron (L-NI) Assoc., and 8th Attack Squadron Assoc. have all been negative.
If you have any information on Joe E. Calhoun (or remember Johnny Choe (Choe Pyong-Hwan), please contact me.
