Comments: 2008- S/sgt. Marvin Kaminen, CFC Gunner, killed in B-29 ditch off Kawjelien Island in the Pacific enroute to our location at Yakota A.F.B.,Japan. His brother, Paul Kaminen, informed me he has a copy, finally, released by the goverment on the disaster. I lost a great buddy that day. A lot of good men got two pairs of wings; one on their breast, and the other, I am sure from God. Young boys who are brave men forever. www.bobbuntburke.com

Comments: The 344th Bomb Squadron, 98th Bomb Group ( 9th, 12th and 15th Air Forces) flew B-24 Liberators out of Palestine, North Africa and Italy during WW II. Probably the best source for the information you seek would be the 8th Air Force Association.

Good Luck.

Pam Robinson wrote on 2004-12-17 18:29:15.0

Comments: I am looking for anyone that may have known my dad Fred E Scott (Scotty)

I am writing a book about him and his experiences.

He did a bit of writing when he was alive, but did not get to finish. He passed in 1999. He did mention Lt. Blackwell (Blackie), B-29 named Slow Freight the 4th, Ernie Taylor and other information. He was seperated from his unit for a time and ended up with another unit until he could reunite with his unit, most of the other unit knew him as Green. Long story, but he was covered with the green die and it wouldn't wash off easily, so they just called him Green. Anyone from that unit with any info please let us in on the story!

That is just part of one story and I would like to write more. If you knew him or or have any stories you can share or just information that will help me to understand more, I would greatly appreciate it.

Pam Robinson, daughter of Fredrick E Scott (Scotty)

Johnson quickly reacted and got us back in the air. At dawn we landed without the nose gear. One injury ! an ankle sprain I think. I am seeking any information about the aircraft and contact with my fellow survivors. Best regards, Vince

My chain of command in Japan was:

For information, I flew 43 combat missions over Korea during the period
between January, 1951, and September, 1951. My Bombing Team, Bombardier
Navigator, Radar Observer), achieved a 98.9 % of bombs in the target
area during those missions when we were the lead aircraft (about 75 %
of the time). The missions that I thought were most productive were
night missions when we were being directed by forward Ground Controllers
who were using radar to guide us on the bomb runs. It wasn't unusual
to drop 40 500lb. bombs 50 yards ahead of our ground forces. We were
able to wipe out attacking forces on many occasions. That is what the
ground controllers told us. We were at 25,000 feet, well above the
clouds, and could not see the ground.

Hello...to all frm the 98th Bomb Group....344th Squadron...

I am the daughter of Captain Arthur L. Fred who served in this Grp in
the Korean Conflict. I am searching for any of his "flying buddies"
during the time frm 1950 thru 1951.

He was initially stationed in Spokane, Washington,Fairchild Air Force
Base. And then went to Yokata, Japan. He served as a Navigator with this
Bomb Grp....a Major James Dickert served as Pilot.

In 1955 my father was still ithe Air Force and was stationed in Roswell,
N.M., when flying back from San Antonio his plane went down with no
survivors. I am interested to locate & hear frm any of his "Army Air
Corp"..or "Air Force" buddies.

(My father's home was Southern Illinois).

Thank You....
Donna

My father was a B-29 bomber pilot MIA on 2/27/52, I think, Capt.
Osborne Tommee Carlisle . He had his wife and children's names painted
on his plane: Pat, Karen, Sandy, Lisa..and some dice. Some of the men
came home, his bombadier, Smoky Manion for one. Hadicol for another.

If anyone has any information about my dad, I'd like to know it. In the
database at the Korean Memorial dedication, it said my dad was killed
in action. If so, we were never told that. I don't believe it because
his status was held open for two years. I have his orders at home with
all the unit number stuff. I'll bring it to work so I can add to this.
