Review ALL pages on our WEB Site www.pyramidiers.com There you will find a brief history of the 98th from 1942 to the present, as well as reunion news, membership details and other information. A few years ago Phil Jaworski and I, through the Association, produced a booklet of 98th B-29 nose art. Although out of print, there may still be a few copies availabe to new members.

So make plans to join us in Orlando Next week Oct 30-Nov. 4th and perhaps talk with individuals who knew or flew with your Dad.

Comments: I am trying to piece together my fathers early service record in the USAF early 1950s. I kind of guestimated that he served with the 343BS, 987 Bomb group in the early 50's by a picture of him standing next to the group barracks sign in I think Yakota or Tachikawa.

He was TechSgt Sharp Davidson, he had something to do with radio & comm, and one of the two black men in a squadron picture, undated. My understanding is that he flew recon missions and he flew aboard RB-45's State Side & Split Vertcal. He spent time in the 60's with 91 SRW.

Thanks

I flew a combat tour in B-29s as a radar operator. I was with the 343d
Bomb Sqdn, 98th Bomb Wing, stationed at Yokota Base in Japan.

I went over as a replacement VO and flew missions with 2 aircraft
commanders: Vanatta and Felker. My duties included making bomb runs
with Shoran equipment, which was more accurate than the vaunted Norden
bombsight.

Went on first mission in January 1953 and rotated back to the states on
July 27, 1953, the same day the cease fire began!
