Maj. George Davis's F-86E #51-2752 |

Comments: I am building a large scale model of Maj. George Davis's F-86E #51-2752... and need help.
There seems to be no photographs of this aircraft! Major Davis was shot down and killed by a Mig-15 on 10 February 1952. At the time he was the leading Korean War ace credited with 14 air victories in a very short period of time. For this he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.
I have modeled aircraft for nearly 30 years and have accumulated a great deal of data and photos on the F-86 in general and the Korean War era birds in particularly and have NEVER seen a photo or a model of Major Davis's aircraft. In light of this man's record this is a tragic injustice. I would very much like to rectify this with a museum quality reproduction of his mount however I need help.
We know from his widow that Davis named his aircraft "Doris" but has no pictures to confirm personal markings, kill stars/symbols or unit badges. There must be a photo taken by ground crew, another pilot or other support personnel. If anyone has any information that might help in honoring this outstanding courageous pilot it would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Michael Caulk 255 Hunters Ridge Drive Saline, Michigan 48176

Comments: I am researching my uncle, Captain (later Major) Pete Fernandez. He died in 1980 under ignominous circumstances and has been entirely ignored by television documentaries, biographers, etc. I am setting up a web page as a chronicle to his life and death, and am looking for anyone who flew or served with Pete. I'm interested not only in Air Force buddies, but anyone else who flew with him afterwards, in the 60s and 70s, when he was piloting decrepit multi-engine planes out of Miami International Airport's "Corrosion Corner." My email is breathingzugisland@comcast.net

Fred writes about the 334th and Capt Jabara, who died in an automobile

From: Fred M Gorsek Jr

Subject:
Capt. James Jabara, 334th Fighter Interceptor Sqd., Worlds First All-Jet
Ace.
Dear Mr. Barker,
I was wondering if Capt James Jabara is still alive, and if so can
anyone give me his address or phone number.
So far all I have found on these two units is that the Worlds First Jet
to Jet Ace was assigned to both Sqd's, as he served two tours of duty
in Korea, he was also a triple ace with 15 MIG-15's to his credit, &
also was a Fighter pilot in WW II & flew P-51's.
I also found that these two Sqd's were part of the 4th Fighter
Interceptor Group. This is in response to the 334th FIS that I had
previously asked about.
Sincerely
Fred Gorsek Jr

more from Fred---
Dear Hal,
After I left my inquiry, I signed into the USAF Museum at Dayton Ohio
and by accident I was looking at their Korean war articles and found
that Colonel Jabara was killed in a car accident 17 November 66
travelling to a new assignment.
