Comments: I remenber George Foradas, he was a mentally disturbed individual.

I wondered if he made it back with all the dumb crap he used to pull.

Comments: My father was a Philco Tech Rep attached to the 934th Signal Service Battalion, Separate TAC (later 5th Comm Group) in Seoul, Pusan and elsewhere ca Oct 1950-July 1951. I've been in touch with some 934th TAC vets that remember him, but have not tried to get in touch with any . He was mainly a powerman for the 934th along with a techrep named Joe Doyle. From July 1951 to the end of that year, Dad says he was attached to the 315th Air Div at Irazuki(sp?) AFB in Japan working mainly with the radios on fighter planes (F80s; F84s, F86s).

There are rumours Dad did much more than that for FECOM from 1950-51, but Dad don't remember or won't remember much. I can't say I blame him; you guys saw Hell. But I'm trying to differentiate fact from fiction.

Does any one remember working with George Foradas, a salt and pepper haired pipe-smoking greek-american tech rep from Ohio? He would have been in his late 20s at the time? According to Dad's Master Sergeant (Sheckler) from his WWII unit( the 3104th Signal Battalion) Dad carried a pair of pliers in his back pocket all the time. I imagine Dad did the same in Korea and Japan cause he still did it when I was a kid.

If anyone remembers "Crazy George" the Philco tech rep let me know.

Thanks,

Jim Foradas

Excerpt from email dialogue

On Wed, 10 Nov 1999
Alex Milne Email address wrote:

Per your request on the 315th Air Division, on skimming through the
book I mentioned, "The combat operations section of the 315th Air
Division prepared a manual on air drops entitled "Supply from the sky"
and disseminated the booklet to all Army units likely to require or
order airdrops."

Also "The 315th Air Divison's first major maneuver with the 187th
Regimental Combat Team was the hurried airlift of its personnel,
vehicles and equipment to Kimpo immediately after the arrival of
airborne unit in the Far East in October, 1950. From that time on,
the 315th Air Division has been allied with the 187 RCT in a unique
Air Force-Army relationship which has been closer than any other
partnership in military history."

I would guess the 315th was the planning laison for drop supplies for
the army, and the one that gave the drop orders to the 483rd Wing,
314th Group down to the squadrons. Hope this helps.
