Glovers Tower site North of Pope/FT Bragg ,57. To 2nd RR SQ Kadena Sept 1, 57, then Kouhsuing,Formosa Terminal Louisiana Circuit about 2-3 weeks later. I may have talked to the guy at Ping Tung on the Maintenance Channel. I remember the Airmens club on Kadena and Dime Time, 10 cent drinks, when we came back to Okinawa. In Oct. 59 we moved Hdqtrs 5th Comm Grp, and 2nd RR SQ to Clark Field, PI. I remember the short Negrito's and their village at the back gate and Copacabana Airmens club. PARIS SITE REVISITED |
| ROBERT S. (BOB) FURRER wrote on October 24, 2010 CITY AND STATE: LAKE OSWEGO OR UNIT: 2ND RADIO RELAY SQ SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: AIR FORCE VETERAN Comments: I was OIC and turned the site over to Co "C" EUSA Long Line Signal BN out of Daegu end of May 1955. On 14 Oct 2010, throgh cortesy of 36th Sig MN (Daegu) and 501st Sig Co at Camp Humphreys, I visited the site with the staff of both Army outfits. The only artifact remaining from 1955 is the concrete stairway that goes from the lower vehicle parking area to top site where the Comm Quonset and Kit/Mess Hall sat. The site and mountain are now so overgrown with tress and underbrush that it is impossible to view anything below site. The access road is now PAVED up to a large CONCRETE chopper pad at the double gated security fence and a SMOOTH well graded gravel road continues up to the old vehicle parking area. Anyone interested, I have 22-photos taken by the 36th and Trip Report, may request same from me by email and you can pull up the 36th Face Book page with their story of on the visit..go to: http://www.facebook.com/notes/us-army-garrison-humphreys-camp-humphreys/former-commander-returns-to-high-point-where-he-served-in-1955/156543284385182 The site is now unmanned and operated by the 501st Sig Co as a digital microwaver relay.
