| JOHN STUCK wrote on January 22, 2009 CITY AND STATE: BRADENTON FL UNIT: SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: AIR FORCE VETERAN Comments: When I arrived At itazuke AFB in November 1956, I was assigned to the Fukuoka Air route Traffic Control Center. On the southeast side of the base we had the Center and the Control Tower. The Center Building still had high bunkers surrounding the facilty and the Tower was a wooden structure. In 1957 we opened a new tower and RAPCON on the main side of the base. The Center Functions were greatly diminished and incorporated into the RAPCON. All Center Controllers were required to qualify in the RAPCON including GCA. I left in November 1958. Keywords: |
