Comments: I attended my fathers squad reunion in 2005. Purchased an F-80 print and had several pilots sign it for me. I am looking for other F-80 pilots who would be willing to sign the print. I will cover shipping both directions. Plan to have it framed and give it to my nephew, 1st Lt Doug Seaver, who is just about to complete his F-18 training as a Marine pilot at Oceania NAS. Thanks for any help you can provide. David Seaver 816-590-5960.

Comments: Does anyone know my dad, James Hittle, from Berwick, PA? He was a crew chief on an F-86 piloted by a Lt. Cawley, Naha, Okinawa, 1955-1956. Also, what's the difference between the two different 16 FIS patches, one with an A and a tiger, the other with a B with a bee? Any help would be appreciated.

16th Pilot, Last Name Desonia |

Joe Brennan wrote on 2005-07-10 00:00:00.0
Comments: I'm researching Korean War air combat. According to an 'encounters with enemy aircraft' report, a 16th FIS pilot named Desonia claimed damage to a MiG-15 10 December 1950. According to Soviet records a MiG was in fact hit in a combat at the same time, though was able to return to base with engine damage. Does anyone know the full name and rank (at the time) of this pilot?, or anything else about this encounter. The other pilots in the flight, Topcoat How, were named Curran and Hall. Thanks.

I saw Kareem on TV yesterday promoting his book and they showed a photo of WW2 Soldier "Smitty" and he looks exactly like the smitty I was in the Army with. Is this you? If not what advice can you give me to help me contact some of the above mentioned people. Sincerely & Respectfully Yours, Randy Vaughn Ramona, California U.S. Army/Pentagon (Former)

F-80's vs. MiG-15's |
 |
 |
Joe Brennan wrote on 2003-06-10 16:32:16.0
Comments: I am researching air combat in the Korean War by non-F-86 units. I am looking for information, first hand and otherwise on F-80 units air combat with MiGs, especially in the period November 1950 thru mid 1951. A few of these encounters are well known and written about in published US works but most are not, sometimes they are only barely mentioned at all in available US records. But some had surprising results from the Soviet perspective that I believe would make them very interesting if described in detail from both sides, so this is what I am trying to do. Any info relevant to this is most welcome.

Looking for anyone who flew with my BROTHER:
1st Lt. Adrian L. Christenson, 16th Fighter Inteceptor Squadron,
51st Fighter Interceptor Group.
His F-80 was shot down on 13 May 1951 on an armed reconnaissance
mission one mile northwest of Tolcotchi, North Korea. We have received
several reports that he was seen outside his plane after it crash
landed; one report that he waved back to other pilots flying over the
crash site.
His nickname was "Spud" and I think he may have gone by "Chris" in the
Air Force. He was declared KIA by the government 2 JAN 1954.
We would like to contact any of the pilots who flew with him on the
mission when he went down.

a DD Form 180 request toward the end of obtaining a grave marker
for my late uncle, Frank L. Van Sickle, # 0821568, USAF MIA in
November 1950 along the Yalu River.
His F-80 was shot down my hostile AA fire. He was talking on the radio
to his flightmates who had to return to Okinawa and could not remain
on the scene. Whether he crashed or was captured is unknown. No
parachuted was seen.
I have his posthumous DFC in possession. I don't have any information
