Comments: Looking for anyone who knew my Uncle Johnny. He was a navigator on a B-26 Invadera and was shot down Aug 7th, 1952 near Hwangju. His mother and father were my uncle Emile and aunt Ella Roessel and lived next door to us in Huntington Park, California. I remember when we got the word that his airplane was shot down and he was missing in action. I was 5 years old at the time. I still have a photo of him taken during WWII when he was going through flight training. In the photo he is stepping up into the cockpit of a Stearman biplane. We always hoped that he had survived and would come home at the end of the war.

This plane was originally part of the 8th BS and crashed in '51. Then it was transferred to the 13th and shot down in '52. My grandfather served on this plane and I would love to have a photo of it.
I know that the late Lt. Col. Emil Pindzola was the pilot and Roy L. Compton was the Nav/Bomb. I would love any information, photos or general recollections/stories about this plane and it's crew.
Thanks!

All I really know is that he was a Sargent, William C. Dawson, and prepared many parachutes. Having read about the Korean War, I want to learn more details. My dad is still living in TX, we talk now and then, however he has aged like the rest of us. I am unsure about how he feels about the subject. Subject: Clifford Sellman 13TH BOMB SQ 5/17/53 B-26
Dear Mr. Barker:
Clifford Sellman was my roommate at Purdue University. He went to Korea
and went to the German Occupation. He was reported killed in action in
1954!
A brief search has not revealed any information to me but I have been
lead to believe that he was shot down over Korea, bailed out OK, and his
parachute reported on the ground. The date of his reported death (as
shown on the Korea War Memorial in Indianapolis) is 1954 possiably
indicating a death in captivity.
Any information that you might add or correct would be appreciated.
Thank You,
Gene Easley
----more from KWP---
Name spelled Selman on Honor Role
Selman, Clifford Gene
The date indicates the original date of casualty of 5/17/53, near the
end of the war. The official date was from either a POW debrief,
or files filtering to command level. The other option is that was the
date of determination.

I was named after my cousin and for most of my life I have heard

she read an article in the newspaper that references a b-29 that crashed
about six months before the end of the was. She remembers that my cousin
Johnnie's plane crashed around that time also. She said the article

I would like to know if you can give me some suggestions on where to

able to fly over and see that the plane crash landed, that it did not
crash and burn. They were unable to do anything, but returned the next
day to the crash site and believe that the plane had been buried or
covered, as there was no sign of the plane.
This has always led us to believe that he did survice and was taken as a
POW.
I would appreciate your help and if you could email I would really be
grateful.
Thanking you in advance,
Sincerely,

My Uncle was Warren Bacon Wisdom and he has been a MIA since 1953 and we
have never heard anything about him. He was a purple heart recepiment.
We don't his company, battalion, or location where he was shot down. My
Aunt would like to at least know where hje was shot down or even where
his remains are located.
If you have any new information could you pleas email me at the address
above.

The other reason for writing is we found a 13th Bomb Sqdn man yesterday.
His tour in the 13th was while it was at Johnson AFB after the War. He
was with the 34th Bomb Sqdn, 17th BW while it was at Pusan. Bernard
would like to contact some of your people. His address is;
BERNARD SMIEGAL
737 DUNMORE ST
THROOP, PA 18512-1187
I don't have his phone number.
Every once in awhile the wife of one of our members, Linda Brooks, takes
it on herself to assist us in our search. She does a hell of a job.
Already this week she has come up with seven finds. Smiegal is one of
them. I need to put a write-up in the INVADER letting everyone know how
hard she works for the Association.
