Comments: My name is Robert E Bean. I am the son of Roger Allen Bean who was a member of the 18th Fighter Bomber Group, 12th Squadron under General Scott in the Azores. He was a mechanic and worked on most of the airplanes back then. I am looking for an image of the Foxy Few that was on a coffee mug he had some time in the past. It was a airplane with the tiger shark teeth coming out of a yellow circle I believe. If you have an image of this you can send me that would be helpful
Thanks in advance for your cooperation,

Comments: Hi, I was looking to put together a little memorial for our father. What little of he spoke about the Korena War is all I know. I know he was with the FOXY FEW and have several pictures of him in front of the planes and the barracks next to the sign. I know he was shot down and was sent to Hawaii in a full body cast. I was wondering if anybody remembers my father or might have some addition pictures that could be shared with me. My father was Robert G. Millington Jr., Air Force, and any info or pictures would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Jason Millington

He served twenty-two years in the military and served specifically in Korea from Jan 52-Jan 53 in the 12th Fighter Bomber Sq as an aircraft mechanic. He has left behind 45 personal photographs of the sqdn, one is of the full sqdn. sitting on top of and around a plane with the sign stating "12th SQ" with the FOXY FEW signia above. I want to share these photos with all who are interested. My father did not give many descriptions or titles to the photos but some of you may recognize your loved ones OR yourself! I will soon be posting the photos oline. Please e-mail me with your interest to the link to the photos or to discuss anything else in particular. I loved my father dearly and he was a damn great man. I'm quite happy to share/swap stories on his behalf. He was very proud of his service. Thank you.

My grandfather, dad, brother, and myself receive mugs from Bud when he returned from Korea. My Uncle Bud was killed in a plane cash by Byron Airforce Base in Texas in October 1954 at age 25. He was an instructor at the base. I was 5 at the time and I have only a few memories of him. My dad died in 1997 and I really never felt comfortable talking to him about his younger brother because Bud's death was very hard on him. I would appreciate hearing about him from anyone who might have known him.

Mr. James is historicaly known for his completions within the Airforce but also for stressing the issues of qualities of determination and sincerity, arguing that performance, not skin color, was how a person should be judged. He was the first Black 4-star general in American History. To the men and women who served with him, we would like to salute you all. Any information of his history would be gratefully appreciated, esp. info on his planes and missions. thanx

DON REICH - PILOT |

Doug Reich wrote on 2000-07-23 09:39:40.0
Comments: My father, Don Reich (Donald Paul Reich, 1923-1975), was a pilot in WW-II and the Korean War. As a child, I asked him what he did in the military. He said that he flew Air Force P-51s in these two wars, and when asked for more details, he would only elaborate with "the P in P-51 means pursuit." I have long admired my father as I knew him, and these planes. He had a few souvenirs from the Foxy Few, a T-shirt and a set of mugs, both emblazoned with a cartoon fox wearing the fur-lined leather headware of a military pilot, and a P/F-51 with a big set of teeth painted on the front. As a child I associated the big open mouth on a "fighter" plane with the Flying Tigers. I still don't know if he was associated with them. I have a grainy video, copied from some old film reels from his gun camera, while strafing and firing rockets. The film has F-51 and the mission date at the bottom of the frame. I am searching for more info on the Foxy Few (I will try to find a reference to the military designation and update this comment).

Comments: Thank you for reading this.
I am trying to locate any information - especially any friends of my dad, James D. Heath who flew for the 12th FBS in March, 1951. If you knew him or have any pictures, diary references, ... , anything that could help me to know something about him, please email me at:
jheath53@yahoo.com
Here is a summarized report of his last mission: ==================================== My dad, Capt. James D. Heath was last seen flying wingman to Capt. Wendell D. Miller flight, leader of "Migrate Yoke", on a two plane (P-51) armed reconnaissance mission. The two separated to pursue separate targets and Capt. Miller lost radio contact with my dad. He began an aerial search and after a short time called in another group, "Migrate Queen", to help with the search.
They did locate aircraft wreckage that was scattered over 600 - 800 feet. There were no large pieces of the aircraft and no signs of life. Running low on fuel, they were forced to fly back to their base. No ground search was ever made.

He was part of the 20th Weather Squad. He was bouncing all over the place over there from June 27, 1950 to the day he was lost. He mentions quite a few names in the diary that was returned with his belongings.

I had hoped to see some photos taken during the Korean War. I still have in my possesion, photos of our aircraft, some enlisted men, and myself. I also have a "Foxy Few" patch.
I was honarably discharged as a Staff Sargeant in Oct, 1955 from George A.F.B., Victorville, California. At that time we were using the North American F-100's (Super Sabres). In fact, if I remember correctly, we were the first Super Sonic Sqadron in the U.S.A.F. - The 436th Ftr Day Sq.

The orignal msg about Major Theron J. Graves is below so that unit
members and friends can recall his life.
From Col Biteman: On Wed, 29 Apr 1998
Major Theron Graves, former CO of 12th Ftr Sqdn in WWII, was most
appreciative of having people from cyberspace sending him 'get well'
greetings thanks to your notice in the 12th Sqdn section of your site.
Unfortunately, he did not survive ... I received word that he had passed
away quietly last week,

Today, 5 December 1997, I received an 18th Fighter Wing Assoc.
membership renewal from Mrs Rachel Graves, wife of MAJOR THERON J.
GRAVES, former Commander of the 12th Fighter Squadron. Theron flew P-38
combat missions in the early days of WWII (Dec '42 until Nov.'43),
hopping from war-torn Guadalcanal thru all of the many islands leading
northward to our victory in Japan. He has steadfastly supported the
12th Squadron over the years, even tho he was not able to fly with them
during the Korean War ... many of our Korean vets knew of him by his
reputation.
Mrs. Graves informs me that Major Graves has recently been diagnosed
with inoperable brain cancer, and the prognosis is not very promising.
She noted that he'd love to hear from his old 12th buddies, and from
those who served the 'Dirty Dozen' and the 'Foxy Few' in later years.
Whether you knew him personally or not ... please drop Theron a note or
a card, or call him at the number shown below.

I am wondering if the K numbers were switched by mistake or am I
wrong. I was there in 1952 and part of 53 with the 18th Fighter
Bomber Wing 12th FBsq. at K-46 Wonju. We used the F 51 Mustangs.
I would like to see more of the 18 FBW and 12th on the net if

Major John W. Rees.
I flew 100 missions during that time period...some were pretty
exciting...to me. Attached is a brief recap of one mission, for

Can you help me in any way as to what info I would need to send and to

Sir
Just found this page and was very interested. I served in the 12th ftr
Bmr in 51 and 52 as a communication tech at most of the bases around the
country.
Thank you for you efforts to bring the Sqdn together again.
I will look around and I might have a old year book with the dogpatch
clubs and other items of interest. I still have the foxey few mugs we
were all given by the CO at some time during the tour.
I am no retired engineer and living in Fremont California.
