Comments: I would like to hear from anybody else stationed there at that time.

I have quite a few old photos and slides that I could upload.

Kimchee buses. Pyong Taek railway yard. 20 cent beer at the bowling alley. Wolf hair parkas on winter jackets. Hats with enormous ear flaps.

Keywords: Stationed at 1246 sometime around 1957 or 1958.

Comments: I had a son from a veteran of the Korean War and whose name was Jake Alvin Thomas from Tulsa, OK. My son is now 22 years old and would like some information of his father. If anyone has a picture of him when he was serving in the Korean War, please notify us. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you and God Bless.

Looking for my mother's parents

Comments: My mother is Korean and African American (or so I have been told). Her mother was Korean and her father was African American man who served in the war. My mother was forced out of the country because she was American and has since been adopted and knows nothing about the rest of her family except that they were probably killed in the war. I know this is a very vague description, but should anyone have any information, please let me know.

Comments: I served with the 1249th AACS Sq at K-13 Suwon Korea 1954-55 and would enjoy hearing from former members of the 1249th.

When I went to Korea I left San Francisco aboard the USNS Gen Buckner, I returned home aboard the USNS James O'hara. If anyone has any information on these 2 ships can you please share it with me I sure would appreicate it.

Comments: I was searching some web sites and came across your site of KOREA, and stopped immediately because now adays there is very little if any talk about Korea War and like they say it is the FORGOTTEN WAR.

Today all you hear about is World War II and Vietnam. Very seldom the word Korea is ever heard. I like many other Vets who served in Korea in the early 1950's have been short changed about recognition of service to our country.

The 1249th was a Airways & Air Communication Service located at K-13, Suwon Korea. We sent and received messages next to the flight line primarily of weather conditions for our pilots and of coarse other messages also.

We also had a Fax machine to receive weather maps. I was there for one year.
