Comments: Leonard passed away in 2007. I am looking for any information about his time in Korea as I am putting together a life album for his grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. I have a newspaper clipping of him pictured with Sapper Jean Deslauriers of Hull Quebec. I recall that he once said he was on the hill next to "PorkChop Hill". Any kind of rememberances would be greatly appreciated. With thanks.

Comments: I`m a grandson of a Jack (John) Duff who was an engineer with the Royal Canadian Engineers during the Korean War. I`m currently teaching in South Korea and would love to have any information about if anyone knew about him or if anyone knew of where his unit was placed. The only thing I know is that he fought in Inchon. Any information would be great!

Comments: I WONDER IF ANY OF THE CANADIAN ENGINEERS WHO SERVED IN
KOREA WITH THE PLANT TROOP REMEMBER ME, CPL BOB JAGO RE. AS
ALWAYS WE REMEMBER ONLY THE BEST OF TIMES, AND WE SHARED
SOME GOOD ONES. MEN I PARTICULARLY REMEMBER ARE CPL BOB
NOLAN (OR WAS IT DOLAN?), CPL. 'GIGABOO' PETRIE, AND SPR. 'KIT'
CARSON.

I SHOULD BE HAPPY TO HEAR FROM ANY ONE WHO WAS THERE, AND
SEND MY VERY BEST WISHES TO ALL THOSE WHO WERE. TODAY IS MY
76TH BIRTHDAY - IT'S HARD TO BELIEVE THAT ALL THOSE VIVID
MEMORIES ARE BETWEEN 55 AND 57 YEARS OLD! WHAT A STURDY
BUNCH WE WERE. WHO REMEMBERS THE ICE COLD ASHAI BEER AND
GREAT SING-SONGS IN THE MESS TENT?

Comments: Hi Fellow Veterans
During the week-end of 02-03 July we were in Halifax and while there we decided to visit the Citadel Museum etc, and just by chance we discovered Veterans were admitted free of charge during the Year of the Veteran, mind you it is not advertised, it is just passed on verbally.
We were told it applied to National Parks and establishments administered by Parks Canada, therefore while visiting any of these establishments ask for the Veteran discount, as a matter of fact it would not hurt to ask for Veterans discount at other establishments not administered by Parks Canada.
Pass the word on to other Veterans on you mailing list.
Have a nice summer and happy travelling.

Comments: Hello, Recently my grandfather passed away and I received his war medals to remember him by. They are very important to me however I would like to learn more about his involvement in the war. His name was L Cpl. GEORGE MITCHELL from Scarborough, Ontario. An old newspaper clip that I have shows my grandad with four other men from the Royal Canadian Engineers as they return from Korea - I'm not sure whether this was his role. The photo was taken in Fort Lewis, Wash. I also have a photo album with many photos that my grandfather took while he was in Korea. One is of the Ginza Beer Hall on New Years Eve (I have no idea which year). I know that my grandad played goalie (#10) for the Ft. Lewis hockey team. Any information or suggestions on where I might find more information would be greatly appreciated. Take care! Natalie
