RE: WILLIAM D. BEALE |
| MARY JUSTUS CASTALDI wrote on February 11, 2011 CITY AND STATE: LAGUNA NIGUEL CA UNIT: SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: FAMILY MEMBER Comments: My father, 1st. Lt. Bert W. Justus was a POW MIA in Korea. I have a report signed by a William D. Beale stating that my father was suffering from blood poisoning in leg and is assumed to have died. I was 6 years old. I am sorry to hear about the death of your father only 10 years after my dad. The report your father filed after the war ended is one of the few that give us some idea of what happened to my father. I can't thank him but I can tell you how much it meant to us. Keywords: Answer to question I was unable to email. |

STILL SEEKING INFO ON MY FATHER |
| JAMES SAYRE wrote on December 23, 2005 CITY AND STATE: UNIT: SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: FAMILY MEMBER Comments: I'm still seeking any information on my father (James L. Sayre) (Jim Sayre) in the Korean War. He told me very few stories about it. He mentioned that he wasn't old enough to get into the military so he had to lie about his age. Would this make tracking his record difficult? As far as I know he still gave them the correct name. Thanks a lot for any info. Major Keene's B-29 was shot down on November 19, 1952. The crew is believed to have safely bailed out on and near Cho'Do Island. Several accounts concerning Major Keene have surfaced over the years. The hardcover book "Soldies of Misfortune" indicates that Major Keene was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in July of 1953 for assaulting a fellow prisoner, and was not to be affected by repatriation. I would appreciate any information from anyone that may have any information concerning the whereabouts of Major Kassel M. Keene.
