My father, Robert McKercher, was assigned to VP-29 in 1955, and was part of Crew #10. Known crew members: LtCdr Lipelt, Lt (J.G.) Sayer, Lt (J.G.) Evans, AT1 A D Butler, ATAN W E Neczypoiatan (sp?), AD2 Fugit, AD2 Koontz, AO3 C A Sering. I have a picture of him on the flight line, Fallen, Nevada, 1955. If anyone can explain the comment "What a ball!!" I'd be interested. :) My father passe away 6 May 2011, and is interred at the Mt Tahoma National Cemetery. I have a few artifacts, pictures, etc. but am looking for pictures of his plane or crew. Also, any stories would be greatly appreciated. DEBBIE TERHUNE wrote on March 25, 2008 City and State: TREASURE ISLAND FL Unit: VP 29 Service or Relationship: FAMILY MEMBER Comments: My father's name is Charles Leo Nagle. He would have gone by Charlie, Chuck, or Doc. He was a Chief in 1954 at Whidby Island and went to the Marshall Islands for Operation Castle. My father died in 1975 from multiple meyeloma. He was only 49 years old. A few days ago I asked my mom for the family photos for a paper in which I have to write about a personal photo. I picked one of my dad and the back of says Feb 22, 1954 Ebeje Marshall Islands. This is what has started me on this search and now I am going to try to retrieve my fathers records. I would appreciate any information that anyone has. I also would love to talk to someone who knew my dad. My email is debbieterhune@mac.com thanks, Debbie Keywords: VP29, Operation Castle, Henry Eubanks, Whidby Island |
