Comments: I am new to the Squadron and dont know a whole lot about the history of this Squadron, but I can tell you that like most Squadrons and units these guys take care of their Sailors! Im in awe at the effort and lengths our officers and senior enlisted go to make this command the great one it is! I am an undesignated airman and i work in the line shack launching and recovering aircraft. I am going to strike for a rate and hopefully go to Aircrew school and later on apply to an officer program... i have high hopes and ambitions for my career in the US NAVY! I just wanted to say Thank You to the veterans and i hope that i can fill your shoes and do the great things you all once did!
Sincerely, AN Chris Laws Patron One USN

Comments: My dad was a pilot who flew around the world with the VP1 squadron. He passed last tuesday 12/18/02. He didn't talk alot about this accomplishment but I know it meant his life to him. I would love to hear from anyone related to members or any surviving members who might have mentioned my dad.

Comments: I would love to hear from any one from VP-7 who was in the squadron from 1951 to 1954. We were an Atlantic fleet squadron up to 1953. I believe VP-22 was flying patrols or missions out of Iwa Kuni Japan when they lost two planes and crews in January and February of 1953. We were flying out of Keflavick Iceland and alternating deployments with VP-8. We were at our home base at Quanset point RI at that time, so they sent us to replace VP-22. My email address is shirleybudvp7@msn.com That o after the 7 is an at that is mis printing. On any reply please put VPNavy in the subject box because we don't open names we do not recogize. Thank you Bud Michaels
Keywords: Our crew 11 of VP-7 also flew during the end of the Korean War. We were on one of our ECM type patrols on the last day of the Korean war which realy never ended. It was 27 July 1953. I, as second radioman was at the radio when I got a request to forward a long coded message. I told the pilot, Mr Volmer and asked for permission to break radio silence. We did not have the satilite communication the flight crews have today. We relayed a lot. Any way, Mr Volmer gave me the OK to relay that message with instructions to send the written coded message up to the cockpit after sending it out. He must of had a code book on the flight deck because in a few minutes he came on the intercom with words I will never forget. " It's over, It's over " I believe this meant we flew the last or one of the last flights or missions of the Korean war.

I ENDED UP IN MULTI-ENGINE AND THEN FLEW P2V-5. OUR SQUADRON WAS OVER

WAS SENT TO PHOTO SCHOOL AND THE NEXT TOUR WE PHOTOS OF CHINA FROM

I WAS THERE WHEN THEY EVACUTED THE TAI-CHIN ISLANDS. MY SQUADRON WAS
MOSTLY OLDER GUYS WHO WERE IN THE RESERVES AND THEY WERE CALLED UP. WE
CAME HOME THAT LAST TIME OUT THERE FLYINY WEST--WE MOVED A WHOLE
