| BRIAN DENNISON wrote on January 4, 2009 City and State: Unit: Service or Relationship: FAMILY MEMBER Comments: I am looking for any further information on an article I found of my Grandfather Robert V. Rasko "Bob". He was a member of a team of pilots that indoctrinated senior pilots and maintenance personnel in the performance of the Skyray. He was under team leader, E. Hammet. and others were- Robert I. Kasten, and Albert J. Weil. I have also seen patches of his that said "Night Hecklers". Any Information from anyone who knew him or of the night hecklers would be wonderful. He also served 3 years as a pilot in WWII. Brian Keywords: F4d-1 Skyray, VC-3 Composite Squadron, Robert V. ALBERT GEORGE FENLEY, CO, USS WALTON |
| LINDAJOY FENLEY wrote on February 25, 2007 City and State: SESBASTOPOL CA Unit: Service or Relationship: FAMILY MEMBER Comments: I'm looking for people who knew my father, Cmdr. Albert George Fenley, USNavy from 1942-1958. You can see more about him at http://web.mac.com/ljfenley/iWeb/AGFenley/Introduction.html Here's the beginning of a letter he sent to the families of all men on board the USS Walton at the end of the Korean War: October 18, 1953 Dear Friend, The Armistice in Korea has brought an end to the actual hostilities there and has paved the way for political conferences which, we hope, will bring lasting peace to this portion of the globe. Since the armistice, you have probably been wondering, why must my son, husband, or loved ones stay so far from home when there is no war? I would like to take this opportunity to attempt an answer to that question. As you know, an armistice is not a peace treaty; but, instead, just an agreement to cease fighting while attempts are made to reach a settlement which will end the argument and lead to peace and We still have a job to do, and we cannot leave this area until the job is done or until someone else takes our place in that job. Meanwhile, we have to combat the boredom which naturally arises during long days and nights at sea..... Keywords: USS Sicard, USS Vesole, USS Yosemite, USS Walton, USS Boyd |
