Comments: Found Malcolm Holland's entry as well as Frenchy Melancon's. Great to see a few names I remember. I'm excited to see there is a USS Winston reunion coming up in October 2010. I'd love to hear from anyone who remembers me. Names I remember are John Kent, Zesse Zepeda, Evans, BeeBee, Elmore, Miller, Ken Ebersole, Al Pacino, Mollack, Marquette, Smitty, Pitter Pat Patterson, Stone, Reilly, the Chief, Lawson and Marines Ahern and the Walrus. If any of you find this, I'd love to hear from you.

Comments: The 2010 Winston Reunion will be a 5 night cruise to Mexico out of New Orleans, LA. October 11th, 2010. I could not get a price locked in for very long, so please call in ASAP to get the best rates. Please call our agent "Dalia Shaffer" at 800-338-4962 ext. 7374. The price floats daily dependent on sales. Needless to say the cheap rooms will go first..(Bunk beds) Inside Cabin for the cheapest advertised prices.(would be an option for those that are sailing single and wanted to split the cabin cost) You will need a Passport

To lock in the listed price, you will need to call and book with your Passport Name ASAP,,, To lock in a $200.00 deposit is required. All travel arrangements to and from the Port including any Motel charges if any are up to each person. The Ship will leave on Oct. 11th, 2010 at 16:00 and can be boarded at noon ...they will not let you board any earlier as they are off loading passengers and loading STORES.

Carnival has a military rate available. You will have to fax your DD214 or Mil. I D to Carnival within 48 hours of booking your cruise.

Please fax to 305-406-6478 interline@carnival.com - Be sure to put your booking number so they know what booking gets the military rate.( I did this by E-mail)

Cancellation insurance is recommended and you do not have to decide now. As long as you decide by the time final payment is due which is approx. 75 days prior to departure. Carnival has ranged from $49 per person and up. You can also purchase CSA Travel Protection at 800-873-9855 and http://www.csatravelpro.com

Comments: My father, then ET3 James R. Kilborn from Wollaston, Mass. served aboard WINSTON fm '46-'48. He later left the Navy and got his college degree. The he re-entered the Navy under a USNR program of the Eisenhower Administrations which commissioned him an Ensign. he went on to duty in USS KIDD, USS WHITEHALL and a few other places I do not recall. He is alive and well and now calls central PA home. He doesn't monkey with computers but I would love to meet anyone who sailed with my dad. He finally retrired in 1973 as a LCDR and I now carry on the family tradition as a Cryptologic Chief Petty Officer on the staff of the Commander Second Fleet. I would also really like to know what became of WINSTON? Scrapped or sold? Thanks, Scott D. Kilborn

Comments: Commissioned in February '52 and joined the ship in drydock at Pearl Harbor. Assigned Asst. Division Officer, First Division, and later as Boat Group Commander. They assigned all the FU's to the Boat Group, but we decided we were the only ones who could do it! Lost a couple of young men to accidents during landing exercises. Had a 1st Lt named Friebourghouse who was wild to try all kinds of seamanship evolutions including a flying moor on Coronado Roads. Later transferred to LST 1073.
