Comments: I was a transient about the Titania in 1950 enroute to NOB Guam and was messcooking. I recall an Aviation Storekeeper Second Class in Supply who claimed that he shipped over on the ship when he was drunk in Alameda. He had been aboard about six month and was the ship's character. He called himself Willy Horsepump.

Comments: Since my dad passed away in January of this year I'm now looking into his service record. Dad didn't talk much about his years in the Navy but I do remember that he told me the first ship he ever served on was the U.S.S. Titania in the last 40's. I would like to get in contact with anyone that could tell me a bit more about what my dad was like when he was young. His name was Willard Carter, but went by Bill or Billy.

Keywords: Served on board the USS Titania from October 1950 to July 1952. Was YNT1, in charge of the ship's office. First assignment was as yeoman in the engineering office. One of the officers there was LTJG Sanford, another was Arleigh Sink, another McNabb. One of my good friends was a MM named Archie Baker. He lives in Stockton, Calif and has a boat repair facility there. Comments: My Father served as a young boy 17 or so and I would love to know if anyone is out there that knew him and could share stories to his family of six children,15 grandchildren and his wife! He passed away a loving unbelievable father and man. We still miss him! I have a letter here with several names of a reunioun he once tried to attend in June of 1996. Happy to share the names if anyone needs or wants it.

CREW MEMBER 1948 1953

Comments: I was stationed aboard TITANIA from 1948 thru 1953 during which time we went to POINT BARROW, Alaska, many trips mto GUAM, and most of the MARSHALL Islands, also a cxouple of trips to Yorktown ammo depot During landings at INCHON I was remporarily assigned as a mamber of an LCVP and became familar with the INNER HARBIOR of INCHON as well as the HAN river. Soon after North Korea crossed 38th Titania was sent to PUSAN and several other small ports of Korea.

Looking for John Houston

Comments: Hi, I'm looking for info about my dad, John Houston, who served on the SS Titania 1951-'53 or thereabouts. My mom divorced him, and didn't want him to see his baby girl (me). I'm nearing 50 now, with a fine son of my own, whose paternal grandfather was in the Marines and at Chosen Reservoir during the Korean War. If John Houston is still alive and wants to know us, that would be great; if not, we'd sure appreciate any information. I've heard he was a talented pianist and singer; he might be happy to know his daughter has been a performing songwriter, and his grandson is a joy.
