I'd like to get in touch with anyone who remembers me, and am specifically looking for Curtis Hicks from southern California who would be approx 70 yrs of age at this time. This is my first visit to the website - and I'll be waiting for your email. Nick Hoffman III HM2

Comments: I am trying to get a history of USS Taconic AGC-17 for a friend (Mack Campbell) who served aboard this ship during the Korean War. What I am looking for is a histrical account of this ship from the keel laying up to now or the time she was mothballed or scrapped. Can you render any assistance? I did manage to get the history of the USS Tutuila AGR-4 for my brother who served aboard her during the later days of WWII. Just how I happened upon this information is a mystery to me. I guess this was during my early days with the WWW and I failed to bookmark the web page. Would appreciate any help. Thank you, Franklin

Comments: Although I am a Korean War Vet (served 4/51-3/55) I did not serve in Korea. I have been active in a Chapter of Korean Vets in Rensselaer County, NY. I have been accessing the Korean War Project site for quite some time now. We had 22 casualties from Rensselaer County and I was able to find some information on the site about all of the casualties. The site had some of the names spelled incorrectly and I so notified the Barkers. We had to get the names straight so they could be put on a bronze plaque in the Troy Riverfront Park area. I also found the name of one of the casualties on Johnson's list. I have accessed the MIA, WIA, etc sites which have come in handy not only for Rensselaer County casualties but also for Schenectady County casualties. It's a great site. Kenpage@aol.com

I was in the USN aboard the USS Taconic (AGC 17) during the Korean War.
I did not serve in Korea. However, I am a member of the Northeast NY
Ch. of the KWVA. We had 22 men from Rensselaer County (Troy, NY is
county seat) who were casualties. 1 Air Force, 2 Marines and 19 Army.
Our chapter is attempting to locate some of the family and are trying to
locate pictures of some of the casualties to send off to DC for the
computer at the National KWV Memorial.
I was in boot camp in Newport, RI in April 1951. I then went to Little
Creek, VA for amphibious training. I then went aboard the USS Taconic
(AGC 17) for 3 yrs 7 mos. 26 days. We were in Carribean, the
Virgin Islands, Venzuela, Thule, Greenland, Naples, Italy for 4 months,
etc.
Will be in touch later.
