They sailed from New Orleans to Manila and Admiraldy Islands, then to Hawaii at the end of WWII. The ship was then transferred to the U.S.N. after that. I came aboard this ship, the sussex, in dec. of 1958 and transfered 2 mo. before she was sold and decommisoned. I made many real good friends. ports of call were ,sasebo, Iwokuni, hokida and yokosuka. This ship was the first ship to go to hokido since 1945, world war II. at this time we were a secret project.
