Comments: I have been looking for persons who might of knew my dad.I am his daughter. My father served on the St.Paul with the gun crew in 1952.He was one of the men who escaped that turret blast off Korea that killed 30 men. My fathers name was Perry Howerton Jr.(Buddy). He was from Knoxville Tennessee. He also served on the USS Berkeley.My father retired as a CPO.while serving on the USS Berkeley in 1967 due to a terminal illness.I'm looking also for pictures and anyone who knew him. MY Grandpa

Comments: My grandpa served on the USS Saint Paul. Im not sure the exact dates he served. But he was there when the turret exploded. He was a fireman. His name Is Daniel (Dan) Pegden.His wife died about two years ago and since then he hasnt been very happy. Comments: My dad(Don Laue) was from Lime Springs Iowa. He served aboard the USS ST. Paul as a fireman. I know that he would be interested in any crew members that would remember the 50th anniversary of the explosion that took place on ship. My dad said that the explosion killed several men and that the cause was a explosion in the magazine storeage area. That was the area that my dad was responsible for as a fire control.

I had the honor of his friendship for 50 years plus.We lost cotton Sept. 2000.He died of a massive heart attack at his ranch in Colorado. He left a lovely wife and loving son. Comments: hello and regards to all shipmates. hope to hear from-find shipmates from the westpac cruise in 56/57. this cruise was the one where st. paul went to manila to represent us at president ramon magsaysay's funeral. operation beacon hill was a large event during this cruise. my nickname was feathers, i was a quartermaster/signalman3rd in operations division. best mates were wiley h. ridings, a a mate called cookie. any ops mate on board please contact me. also hope to find and buy the cxruise book for the cruise, ex-wife shit-canned everything left for the kids. have grandkids now and they would like to know what the old man did while in the navy. any/all help will be greatly appreciated. god bless all, and now i request permission to leave the ship sir.

Comments: I am looking for A.J. Jenssen who was a machinist mate third class in the after engine room. I was on throttle watch and a vaccum tank exploded. Glass hit me in the chest and hit A.J. in the arm. I am trying to get a Service Connection related to this incident. There are no written reocrds of the incident. Comments: I would like to find and possible contact any shipmates that may remember being on board with my father during the Korean War. I don't remember the exact years he was on board the St.Paul but it was early fifties if I am not mistaken. He transferred from the USS Iowa to the St. Paul and I believe he served as an electrician. Comments: Looking for a shipmate that went by the name "BB" Smith, a plumber in Roger Division who served with me on the Saint Paul from April 1951 through October 1954.

Last I had heard he was somewhere in either Nebraska or Kansas.
