BOXER FIRE DURING KOREAN WAR 1952 |
| JEFF ELDER wrote on June 10, 2003 City and State: Unit: Service or Relationship: FRIEND OF VETERAN Comments: I have pictures of the August 1952 Boxer fire taken from the Stembel by Ray Bentley. The fire was already out by the time the Stembel arrived so you don't see much fire close up. Mostly shows the Boxer crew being picked up and returned to the Boxer. Total of 17 pictures, just under 2 megabytes in .jpg format. Includes the Stembel log for that day. If interested, email me and I'll email them to you. Keywords: stembel boxer fire |

| ROBERT WEBB wrote on April 7, 2001 City and State: METAMORA IL Unit: DESDIV 112 Service or Relationship: NAVY VETERAN - KOREA Comments: I remember the fire aboard the Boxer. As I recall, she had a starboard list and you could see men diving off the flight deck. We picked up several men who were in the water and took them aboard, to later be transfered back to the Boxer. We were also in Wonson for shore bombbardment on sereral occasions. Keywords: "Buck" was a RMN3. |
