Comments: Looking for information about my grandfather, Fred Wolford, would like to talk to anyone who may have known him. He served on the USS Sperry during World War II, I'm not sure how long he was aboard. However, I have a certificate stating he was aboard on Decemeber 3, 1945.

Comments: Hi, I'm the grandson of thee late ( Robert Cecil Gosman / Seial Number 9861802 ) from Milton, Kentucky.Grandpa was on the USS Sperry (AS 12) on April/23/1945 to November/26/1945. His Rank/Grade (Seaman Second Class). My grandpa passed away in the year-2001. I'm working on a family tree & I would like to know if someone out there knows my Granddad. Comments: My dad, Raymond Lester Hill, passed away last November, and I am just trying to locate any body that might have been on the ship with him. From the letters that I found that he and my mother wrote to each other the dates are 1942-1947. In the letters he talks about having a buddy, but so far has not put a name with this buddy. In this set of letters that I have read he is stationed in California. His home town was Loudon, Tennessee. Thanks for any help you can give me. Darlene

Comments: Served my last year on active duty on the Sperry, from 1951 - 1952, while the Sperry was at anchor in San Diego bay. Member of the radio gang, and discharged from the Sperry in June of 1952 as RM3.

Comments: I served on the USS Sperry (AS-12) from November 1948 until March 1952. I was a Radio Operator and was with her when the Korean Conflict (War) broke out in June of 1950. We were in dry dock for refurbishing at Mare Island Naval Shipyard at the time.
