He's told me several stories from his days aboard the Shelton and is very proud to have served aboard her. He's 80 now and never been to a ships reunion. I know he went into the service in 1948 and served in the Korean War and in Vietnam. He passed away when I was eight and now I am 25 with 2 young sons and I would love to have stories to tell them. His name was John William Stewart or he sometimes went by J.W. Stewart. If anyone knew him or has pictures or stories please let me know. Thanks so much. Keywords:

CHARLES FLICK wrote on November 4, 2005 City and State: Unit: Service or Relationship: FRIEND OF VETERAN Comments: My good friend Steve Janetis served aboard the USS Shelton during the KW. He was involved in the gun battle with the North Korean shore battery, was wounded, and later received the Silver Star and the Purple Heart for his actions that day in getting his gun back into action. Sadly, Steve passed away about 3 years ago. He spoke often of the Shelton and his shipmates towards the end of his life.
