I was born a transgender person. I live my life as a man and did my best to be the man my family expected me to be. Knowing all of the time that I was suposed to be female. I worked very hard to hide this from everyone.At times I felt that I should just end it all but I held on,worked hard and was a goog seaman. Finally, at the age of 73, I decided that it was now time for me to be happy and made the change. I an now a transgender Veteran, and get help from the VA Hospital here in Phoenix with several other Vets. I an extreemly thankful for that. I will never forget my time served on the Rodman and sincerly hope that all of my old shipmates will not think badly of me. I am not ashamed of being myself and I do hope to attend the next reunion with honor. Ms Linda J Bedore Keywords: I was on board the night of the coulision between the Wasp and the Hobson. I rember helping scrub the oil off of the Hobson duty radar man after he was picked up by our boat,and giving him my bunk on that terrible night. He told me what a merical it was that he was saved. |
