U.S.S. ROCHESTER PHOTO |
| JOEL BRENDER wrote on October 24, 2009 City and State: Unit: Service or Relationship: AIR FORCE VETERAN Comments: I have been researching my father's time as a merchant seaman during the Korean and Vietnam wars. I came across this photo he took of the U.S.S. Rochester taken sometime in 1951-52. I believe it is located either off Inchon or Pusan as there are hills slightly visible in the background as well as her secondary armament is raised. She appears to be either hauling or dropping anchor as it is partially covering her number. A slight wake is also visible. The other ships appear to be static. I will e-mail a copy of this photo to whomever requests it. I would be happy to hear from anyone who has further information or can better identify this deployment. Keywords: U.S.S. He was aboard during the Quemoy (?) insurrection. He of course was my hero and I've been lucky enough to learn so much from him. Unfortunantly, Melvin's life was taken July 18, 1953.
