USS PRESTON DD795

Comments: I served on the USS Preston DD 795 from 12/1964 to 2/1969. Those were the best years of my life!!! I have the 1967 Cruise Book but have lost the 1966 Cruise Book. Does anyone have one they can make a copy of or an extra one I can buy. Would like to get one for old time sake and memory because I was in that one more than the 1967 one. If you know me I like to look at myself a lot in that book. HaHaHa!!!!

Comments: Dale E. Hanger passed away on Feb 11, 2009 after long fight with leukimia. Would like to hear from shipmates. I think his services dates were 1960-1962 as radarman PO. Thank you for you service.

Thomas Lee Reed Boilermaker 56

Comments: Looking for any information on my Dad Thomas Lee Reed from Hazel Green, Ky. He served on the destroyer USS Preston DD795 between June 1959-May 1960. he also served on another destroyer, but cannot find any information about it. His nickname was "old man", if my memory serves me right, he did own a naval book with pictures of the destroyer and some of the guys on the ship. Unfortunately it is lost. He left us in 1997 at the age of 62 and is probably entertaining crew members right now. If anyone has any information please give me a holler. Thank you!!

USS Prestion Service Time

Comments: I enjoyed meeting a lot of nice people on the USS Preston. I left the USS Preston while we were in Subic Bay in late May 1964 and was transferred to the USS Putnam DD757 out of Norfolk, VA while at home on emergency leave in June, 1964. David Waldrop, who made two Far East cruises called me in Jan. 2000 and we met again several months later.

Comments: I became a USS Preston crew member in March, 1963. I worked in the #1 boiler room until my discharge on August 18, 1966. I would really like to make contact with some of the great guys I met on the Preston.

SHERIDAN, Thomas Jr. Nov 65-Sep 66

Comments: Sheridan was my older brother, according to NPRC records (which I just received) he served on the Preston from Nov 65 to Sep 66.

He was killed in a car accident in 1974, leaving behind an 18 month old son who is now trying to put together 'memories' of a dad he has no memory of.

If anyone out there served with Tom, we would REALLY appreciate hearing from you. I already got a copy of his service records, so I'm FULLY aware of what a "devil" he was - and we'd enjoy hearing any stories you might have to share.
